We’re excited to partner with NC Cooperative Extension of Swain County again this fall to bring Walk With Ease back to our community! Last year’s program filled up fast, so don’t wait to reserve your spot.

Walk With Ease is a free Arthritis Foundation program designed to help you build confidence with walking, improve strength and flexibility, and stay active at your own pace. If you can be on your feet for 10 minutes without increased pain, this program may be a great fit for you.

Stop by our table as we encourage seniors to MOVE, CONNECT & THRIVE. We’ll be handing out resistance bands with easy-to-follow exercise guides to encourage physical activity, strength, and healthy movement, while celebrating the importance of staying connected and socially active, too! ❤️ Free Health Screenings for Swain County Seniors! The Swain County Health Department is excited to partner with Samaritan’s Feet and the Swain County Senior Center to offer free health screenings during the upcoming Samaritan’s Feet shoe distribution event. Thanks to generous support from the Great Smokies Health Foundation, seniors can stop by our table for free blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose screenings, along with opportunities to win healthy living incentives.

👟 While you're there to receive your new shoes, stop by our booth for FREE health screenings to help you take the next step toward better health.

We'll be offering:
• Blood Pressure Screening
• Cholesterol Screening
• Glucose (Blood Sugar) Screening

Chronic disease remains the #1 health concern in Swain County, with heart disease, diabetes, and obesity affecting many of our families. These quick screenings can help identify potential health concerns early and connect you with resources to stay healthy.

Participants who complete their screenings will also have the opportunity to enter drawings for healthy living prizes, including:
🥕 Fresh vegetable boxes from a local farm
🥩 Meat boxes from a local provider
🩺 Comprehensive lab testing vouchers with waived blood draw fees
❤️ Home blood pressure monitors for individuals with elevated blood pressure
