There's a version of recovery we see in movies — one person, gritting their teeth, willing themselves clean through sheer determination. It makes for a good montage.
It's just not how it actually works.
Recovery is more like a puzzle than a solo sprint. Scattered on their own, the pieces don't add up to much — it's the people around someone that turn them into something whole: family, family of choice, sponsors, accountability.
