There's a version of recovery we see in movies — one person, gritting their teeth, willing themselves clean through sheer determination. It makes for a good montage.

It's just not how it actually works.

Recovery is more like a puzzle than a solo sprint. Scattered on their own, the pieces don't add up to much — it's the people around someone that turn them into something whole: family, family of choice, sponsors, accountability.

This week, we're breaking down why that support has to be collaborative. Follow along.

Remember the quote we started with on Monday?

"If you are not willing to change, no one can help you. If you are determined to change, no one can stop you."

We want to close this week by bringing it full circle — and ask you the one question that cuts through everything else.

Are your old patterns actually serving you?

If the answer is no — watch this. Whatever your situation looks like, there is a path forward. And we would love to help you find it. 🤍

Change is one of the most feared words there is.

Because we don't know where it's going to take us. Our brains are wired to fall back into what's familiar — even when what's familiar is hurting us.

But every single one of us has the ability to change. The only question is whether we're willing to make the decision.

Watch this. It might be the permission you've been waiting for. 🤍

Most of us have something in our lives that needs to change.

Not just those dealing with addiction — a pattern, a habit, a relationship, a way of coping that stopped working a long time ago.

Cam is asking the question this week that most of us avoid asking ourselves.

Watch this. Sit with it. And tune in Thursday and Friday as this conversation continues. 🤍

Monday, we talked about what it takes to change.

Today we want to show you where that change can happen.

A place to rest. A place to breathe. A community that shows up for you every single day.

This is what we are building at Shades of Hope Youth. Swipe through — and if this feels like what your daughter or your family needs, give us a call. 🤍

Change is one of the hardest things a person can choose.

And one of the most powerful.

Whether it's for yourself, your daughter, or someone you love — the decision to change changes everything. Not just for you. For every relationship you carry.

At Shades of Hope we have spent 38 years walking alongside people ready to do that work. And now we are building a community specifically for young women — a place where change doesn't have to happen alone.

If you are determined — we want to be part of your story. 🤍

Tomorrow we celebrate 250 years of American freedom.

Freedom means something different to everyone who has fought for it, lived for it, and is fighting for it.

At Shades of Hope, that word means everything to us. It is the whole reason we operate— so that someone doesn't have to carry the weight of their pain through life. So that families can breathe again. So that healing is possible for anyone who is ready to reach for it.

From our family to yours — we hope your 4th of July is full of the people you love and the moments that remind you what freedom really feels like.

Yesterday we talked about relief — how everyone, no matter their age, is searching for it.

Today Cam takes that a step further.

If you were once that teenager we've spent this week talking about — where were you? How did you learn to cope? And are you still carrying those scars, whether you realize it or not?

Cam filmed this one by the very tree limb our logo came from, because that's exactly what this is about. Wounds we carry in our hearts don't just disappear with time. Unless we heal them, we carry them into every relationship we have — as a parent, a spouse, a grandparent, a friend.

What comes from the heart goes to the heart. What comes from the head goes over the head.

However healed — or unhealed — your heart is, it will shape what you give to the people you love, including the teens in your life who need you most right now.

If there's work you need to do around this — for yourself or someone you love — we're here and just a phone call away. 325-668-9142

Coming off today's Tennie Talk on teen substance use, we want to take a moment to talk to you. All of you. No matter your age.

We talk a lot about trauma, recovery, and abstinence. But underneath all of that, what everyone is really searching for is relief.

Relief from the pain. The anger. The feeling of not being enough. The situations we never felt we had control over.

That search doesn't end at 18. It doesn't end at 30 or 50 either. If you were once that teenager — the one we've been talking about all week — some part of you may still be looking for that same relief.

That's what the work at Shades of Hope is really about. Not just stopping a behavior. Finding relief in a healthy way. Positive. Lasting.

Tomorrow, Cam continues this conversation.🤍
