Camp Shout Out for Youth Who Stutter has been said to be a “life changing” experience for so many who attend. The campers receive a special overnight camp experience while also participating in community building. SLPs and graduate students come to learn how to support people who stutter. Over the next 16 days, we are trying to raise $16,000 for CSO. Your donations would contribute to these incredible experiences. Any gesture would go a long way!

We wanted to highlight this new resource from The Stuttering Treatment and Research Society (STARS).

They created a guide for adults who stutter (AWS) to help guide conversations with doctors/medical professionals about stuttering.

They describe it as being "meant to help you advocate for yourself, explain what you’re experiencing, and
have a productive conversation with your doctor about possible treatment options."

Spreading Stuttering Awareness doesn’t have to be contained to one week, it needs to happen YEAR-ROUND!

CCC Clinician, Patty Boyle, wants to highlight 3 organizations that she feels have helped her get connected in the stuttering community and helped her grow as a clinician!

In honor of National Stuttering Awareness Week (NSAW), our clinician, Nick Caruso, M.S., CCC-SLP, wanted to highlight the movie, THE KING'S SPEECH (2010) as a way to raise stuttering awareness. He believes this movie is both an authentic representation of stuttering in film/TV, and an excellent example of how the relationship of the client & clinician is the most important part of the therapy process.

Close out NSAW with a movie night!

For National Stuttering Awareness Week (NSAW), our clinician, Kyle Pelkey, M.S., CCC-SLP, wanted to highlight an important resource from Spero Stuttering, Inc.

They released a video that captures the experience of a parent of a child who stutters. The parent openly and honestly discussed worries, concerns, and desires they had for their child during the stuttering journey. While this video highlights one parent's specific experience, we believe it can be a valuable guide for any parent to watch, reflect, and explore various actions they can take to best support their child.

One of the best ways to raise stuttering awareness, is to seek out community! Camp Shout Out is an incredible experience for youth who stutter. This overnight camp gives kids a classic summer camp experience while also helping them find community and build skills that will help them in their daily lives! Registration for campers is open! The more the CSO family grows, the more we can help people learn about stuttering.

One of our most important resources to highlight during National Stuttering Awareness Week (NSAW) is our Teacher Advocacy Video! This video, along with the FREE Student/Teacher/SLP advocacy guide that accompanies it, serves two roles:

1) It brings a teacher's awareness to the impact of stuttering in the classroom -- from the voices of people who stutter themselves

2) It provides teachers and students with a resource that can guide meaningful conversations around stuttering support in the classroom.
