A traditional overnight summer camp experience that's centered around fun, community, and empowerment!

Registration is open for campers! We'd love to see as many new faces as possible to keep the CSO family growing!

Friends visiting the clinic!

We wanted to thank our friend and colleague, Olivia, for joining us earlier this week.

Olivia has been trained at Camp Shout Out for Youth Who Stutter, and decided to visit the Chmela Communication Center to learn more about person centered stuttering therapy.

We admire Olivia's dedication to further her knowledge in the area of stuttering, cluttering, and other fluency disorders.

Camp Shout Out for Youth Who Stutter has been said to be a “life changing” experience for so many who attend. The campers receive a special overnight camp experience while also participating in community building. SLPs and graduate students come to learn how to support people who stutter. Over the next 16 days, we are trying to raise $16,000 for CSO. Your donations would contribute to these incredible experiences. Any gesture would go a long way!

We wanted to highlight this new resource from The Stuttering Treatment and Research Society (STARS).

They created a guide for adults who stutter (AWS) to help guide conversations with doctors/medical professionals about stuttering.

They describe it as being "meant to help you advocate for yourself, explain what you’re experiencing, and
have a productive conversation with your doctor about possible treatment options."

In honor of National Stuttering Awareness Week (NSAW), our clinician, Nick Caruso, M.S., CCC-SLP, wanted to highlight the movie, THE KING'S SPEECH (2010) as a way to raise stuttering awareness. He believes this movie is both an authentic representation of stuttering in film/TV, and an excellent example of how the relationship of the client & clinician is the most important part of the therapy process.
