We are grateful to the Health Foundation for Western and Central New York for selecting Neighborhood Health Center as a Health Foundation awardee for the Univera Healthcare 2026 Health Equity Innovation Awards.

Our newest site at 2497 Delaware Avenue in North Buffalo is opening in July, and this funding will help us offer walk-in pregnancy tests at the site, reduce barriers to early pregnancy care, and connect patients to OB-GYN providers.

This means walk-in pregnancy tests are available at all Neighborhood locations for anyone. You don't have to be an established Neighborhood patient.

You may have heard: The Erie County Department of Health has reported a confirmed measles case in the County, the first since 2018.

Should you be concerned?

Dr. Gail Ferguson, Neighborhoods’ Vice President of Clinical Services and Chief Medical Officer says:

"The risk of measles to the general public remains low. Measles is a highly contagious respiratory virus that causes febrile rash illness. Measles has been eliminated (no sustained circulation) in the United States for decades. However, there can still be measles cases, as it is easily imported by unvaccinated travelers and can spread in under-immunized communities."

Initial symptoms include fever, cough, red or pink watery eyes, runny nose and rash that will start 3-5 days after other symptoms begin and is accompanied by a high fever.

If you have symptoms or suspect you've been exposed, CALL your healthcare provider BEFORE going for care. This helps to prevent spread of the infection to others.

If you're not already vaccinated, get vaccinated.

"A two-dose measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine series is 97% effective against measles infection. Anyone who has not been vaccinated against measles and was born after 1956 should receive the vaccine," says Dr. Ferguson.

Measles vaccination is available at all Neighborhood Health Center sites.
