Carol Lynne Bryndle (nee Reed), of Hamburg, New York, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026. She faced Parkinson’s disease with remarkable grace, optimism, and strength.

Carol was born on January 31, 1945. She had many fond memories of growing up in West Valley along with her 5 siblings. She attended nursing school and began a rewarding career as a nurse, before taking some time off to raise her children. Once they were school-age, Carol took a job as a teacher aide for children with special needs, and then opened a child care business in her home. She finished off her career as a nurse at Ridgeview Manor, before retiring to enjoy time as a grandma and to travel with her husband.

Carol shared 60 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Robert, who passed away in March. It brings her family peace to know that after this short separation, they are now reunited in eternal rest.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Mark (Jess), Eric (Lauren), and Christine (Eric); her cherished grandchildren Devon, Haliey, Trevor, and Rylan; as well as her sisters, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Carol was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was marked with kindness, love, and compassion. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. She will not be remembered by the health struggle in her final years, but for the way her life was lived and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A celebration of Carol’s life, along with a joint burial for Carol and Robert, will be held at a later date.

David S. Trageser of Hamburg, NY.
Passed away June 5 following a decade-long battle with Dementia with Lewy Bodies and Parkinson's Disease. Dave was born on June 10 1944 in Buffalo NY to Charles A. and Ann (Stewart) Trageser. Dave was a loving father to Nicholas (Jillian), loving grandfather to Elena Claire, and loving brother to Nancy Trageser of Albany NY, Janet Trageser of Rochester NY, Carol Warren (John) of Wi******er VA, and Barbara Fuller (Mark) of Tucson AZ and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Following graduation from Hamburg High School in 1962 and Lehigh University in 1966, Dave was drafted into the Army. After completing Engineering Officer Candidates School, he served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division at the height of the Tet Offensive. After his military service, he returned to the U.S. and tried urban corporate life in California. It turned out he was better suited to surviving the 1969 Altamont Music Festival and the 1970 Jimi Hendrix Isle of Wight concert. Hence, he packed his car with all his worldly belongings and took off for Montana. He lived in a teepee in the woods and tried his hand at various odd jobs like harvesting potatoes and trimming Christmas trees. There in Missoula he began his 30 year career as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. The years following included building friendships, playing soccer, traveling through Europe in a dilapidated VW bus, and photographing many natural and human conditions on trips to the American West and Central America. In 1985, Dave moved back home to Erie County, first settling in Orchard Park and then in Hamburg. There he renewed friendships from his high school days, married, and became a proud father. With his son Nick, he enjoyed music, playing and reffing soccer, and made an extraordinary trip to Germany for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Other travels included China, India, and multiple trips to Israel.

A celebration of Dave's life will be held on Saturday, July 25, from 11:00am to 2:00pm at the West End Inn, 340 Union Street, Hamburg. Contributions may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association or the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

Carol received her masters degree in nursing and retired from Roswell Park Cancer Institute. She also loved quilting.
Carol was a woman of remarkable strength and grace. She faced life's greatest challenges with quiet determination—raising three young boys on her own after losing Jack, never wavering in her commitment to give them everything they needed. But what made her truly exceptional wasn't just her strength; it was the boundless love that filled every room she entered.

To her grandchildren and great-grand children, she was Grandma, GB, GG - a figure of warmth and unwavering support, always there with a listening ear and an open heart. Her hands were never idle; she poured her talents into quilts for nearly the entire family, each one a tangible expression of her care and dedication. Yes, she could be stubborn—and we loved her for it. That strength of conviction was part of what made her who she was.

But more than anything, Carol's legacy is the depth of her heart and her absolute, unchallenged dedication to her family's well-being. She didn't just raise her sons and love her grandchildren—she showed all of us, through everything she did, what it means to put family first, to give everything you have, and to do it with grace.

Carol will rest in peace now, but she will never be forgotten. The quilts remain. The memories remain. And most importantly, the love she gave so freely will continue through all of us. Rest easy Mom.
