🙋🏾🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏻‍♂️

Back-to-school season doesn’t just change the kids’ routine. It changes yours, too.

A few things your September self will thank you for:

• Put every school date in one shared calendar now
• Choose a few easy and healthy breakfasts, snacks, and lunches on repeat
• Meal prep or order in as things ramp up (don't add extra stress to your plate)
• ScheduleBuild in extra time (and 'relaxation time') for the first couple of weeks
• Decide what can be “good enough” before things get busy
• Give yourself grace while everyone finds their new rhythm

The goal isn’t a perfectly organized school year. It’s a routine your family can actually live with.

Save this for the week the emails, permission slips and theme days start rolling in.

UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine presents AEDs to 10 community organizations. 💙

This effort, spearheaded by Dr. Leslie Bisson, June A. and Eugene R. Mindell, MD, Chair of Orthopaedics at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at UB, president and CEO of UBMD Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine and medical director for the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres.

Dr. Bisson and the UBMD Ortho team were among the first responders that provided care for Bills safety Damar Hamlin in 2023 when he suffered cardiac arrest on the field.

UBMD Ortho's efforts to raise awareness and training for CPR and AED access has grown since that day, as the team has now trained 37,640+ people in WNY in hands-only CPR/AED training.

Perimenopause and menopause affect half the population, but too many people are still left sorting through conflicting information, dismissed symptoms and unanswered questions.

In Episode 17 of the UB Medicine Podcast, Sarah L. Berga, MD, chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, joins Allison Brashear, MD, MBA, dean of the Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences - University at Buffalo and vice president for health sciences at UB, to bring clarity and science to this highly individualized stage of life.

Their conversation explores why menopause is not one single moment, how hormonal fluctuations can affect sleep, mood and cognition, and why informed, personalized care matters.
