Happy Holidays from Amherst Eye Care! Our office will be closed Friday, December 24th and Saturday, December 25th. We will be open for our normal business hours on Tuesday, December 28th.

Recently Dr. Burstein inserted his first Prokera lens. PROKERA is made from donated amniotic membrane (the part of the placenta closest to the baby throughout development in the womb). The tissue is rich in fetal stem cells which can improve the health of other tissues it comes in contact with. Prokera is used in a way that’s similar to wearing a large contact lens. After 4 – 5 days of treatment, the cornea heals, vision improves, and the lens is removed.

Amherst Eye Care will be closed for Memorial Day this Saturday, May 23, 2020. We will resume our normal business hours on Tuesday, May 26. We wish everyone a happy and healthy Memorial Day weekend!

Our office has officially re-opened! However, things will look very different the next time you come in. Here are some things you should know.

-You MUST wear a mask the entire time you are in the office.

-Only patients will be allowed in the office, with the exception of 1 caregiver if necessary.

-We WILL take your temperature upon entering and if it is 100 degrees or higher, you must reschedule.

-If you have traveled, been in contact with anyone who has traveled or has been diagnosed with the virus, or if you have had any cold or flu-like symptoms in the past 14 days, please stay home. We will ask these questions when you come in and if the answer to any of them is yes, you will need to reschedule.

Please understand that these are the regulations required of us in order to be open. In addition to these requirements, doctors and staff are also monitoring our own temperatures and symptoms, wearing masks, and maintaining very strict sanitation procedures. Please be patient with us as we all figure this out together. If you have any questions or need to make an appointment, please give our office a call. We can't wait to see you all!

Our office is open for LIMITED services by appointment ONLY until we re-open for normal business on May 19. If you are looking for glasses or need an adjustment/repair, please call us to schedule an appointment so that we can comply with social distancing guidelines.

Only one person at a time will be allowed in the office and patients MUST wear a mask.

If you are running low on contact lenses, please call our office to order as we are still offering FREE direct-to-patient shipping on 2 boxes or more. We will continue to monitor our answering machine and email, so please let us know of any way we can serve you during this confusing time. At Amherst Eye Care, we truly care about the health and well-being of each of our patients. As tension regarding COVID-19 rises in our area, we are closely monitoring the latest recommendations of the World Health Organization and CDC and are taking every precaution necessary to ensure that our office is both safe and sanitary. However, in these uncertain times we ask that our patients also err on the side of caution. If you have been feeling unwell, have recently traveled outside the U.S., or have reduced immunity for any reason, we ask that you please consider staying home. You will not be charged a cancellation fee and we will do our best to accommodate your scheduling needs at a later date.
