Johnson County Ambulance - Buffalo EMS

Starting late September, Buffalo EMS will be holding an EMT Basic Course. The class will run from September into early next year.

EMT-B is the entry level course into emergency medicine and will cover basic life support, airway management, bleeding control, splinting and stabilization, managing common medical emergencies, and basic emergency medications. The class will entail 120 hours of lecture and hands on skills, 48 hours of ambulance ride along, and 12 hours of emergency room standby.

You're Invited! 🥳

Next Thursday, Buffalo EMS will be opening our doors to you, the public, in celebration of the new station at 4PM until 6PM. While you're here, we will be hosting tours of the ambulances, providing information regarding EMS training, and taking basic health vitals.

We hope to see you there! We will be providing refreshments and snacks for those who attend.

We at Buffalo EMS extend thanks to all who were involved in the monumental show of effort last night. The first responders of Johnson County and Wyoming united to tackle an incident unusual for our area. This being said, we are not able to disclose any information regarding the accident and patient care.

We thank the following but certainly do not limit ourselves limited to:

Johnson County volunteer firefighters, Johnson County sheriff's office, Buffalo police department, Johnson County dispatch, JCHC emergency room staff, First Flight of Wyoming, Wyoming Life Flight, responding EMS personnel, off-duty EMS assisting, and the Good Samaritans who stopped at scene.

It is the unity of the rural community that we love which made this all possible. We keep the victims and their families of the accident in our thoughts and prayers. From the bottoms of our hearts, thank you everyone!

Today, Buffalo EMS gives a heartfelt thank you the EMTs who continue to serve our community every day. Among our team are familiar faces who have dedicated years of service to Johnson County, alongside newer providers who have grown within Buffalo EMS through the guidance and education of our training program.

Our EMTs bring skill, professionalism, and compassion to some of the most critical moments in a person’s life. Whether responding to 911 emergencies, providing standby coverage at rodeos and high school events, or arriving first on scene during accidents and medical emergencies, they are always prepared to answer the call. They serve through sleepless nights, pandemics, blizzards, and extreme heat. Many have another career to show up for come the morning. Their dedication, resilience, and commitment help keep Johnson County safe each and every day.

Buffalo EMS honors our EMTs for the care, sacrifice, and professionalism they bring to this service. We honor and thank you not only during EMS Week, but every day of the year.
