In light of the recent comments made by an online 'influencer' regarding the Down syndrome community, our newest blog, “More Than a Diagnosis: Why Acceptance Still Matters,” reflects on the ongoing stigma that still surrounds Down syndrome and the disability community.

This is not about politics, it’s about people. It’s about the importance of using respectful language, challenging outdated assumptions, and recognizing the value, joy, and purpose that individuals with Down syndrome bring to their families and communities every single day.

At GiGi’s Playhouse, our mission is to change the way the world views Down syndrome and to create a place where every individual is seen, celebrated, and supported.

All about Faith 💕

Faith is one of the friendly faces you’ll find at the front desk at GiGi’s Playhouse Buffalo. At 23 years old, she’s a receptionist, martial artist, ASL signer, dog lover, and an important part of our Playhouse family here in Buffalo, NY.

We’re so beyond grateful for Faith’s positive attitude, hard work, and the joy she brings to everyone she meets. Thank you Faith, for sharing your story and for being such a wonderful part of our community! 🫶

GiGi’s Games with Friends got moving yesterday! 🙌 Our adults spent the afternoon stretching, doing yoga, working out, and having fun together. Fitness is such a great way to care for the mind, body, and soul, and these smiles say it all! Way to go, everyone! 💚

Amazing Speech Opportunity Alert!! Our Buffalo Playhouse has been chosen to be a part of this exciting research opportunity. 🙌

The Department of Speech and Language from Arizona University has been awarded NIH funding to do research and data collection around adolescents with Down syndrome (10-25 yrs old) and what techniques/strategies are most effective to develop speech.

Participants can gain knowledge specific to their own speech development. Such knowledge can be shared with therapists, educators, or anyone who supports the individual.

Scheduling and location of research is extremely flexible and will take place between June 22nd and July 17th. Every participant enrolled walks away with $20. Spots will fill up quickly so don’t wait. Schedule today! Be sure to scan the QR on this flyer for more info.

We are so proud of Mari for sharing about GiGi's Playhouse during the Springville Service Project. Mari is the older sister to Micah, who was born with Down syndrome. She is his closest friend and a strong advocate for him and all his peers who have Down syndrome. Thanks, Mari, for representing our community! 💜💛

GiGi’s Playhouse Buffalo will be closed tomorrow in observance of Memorial Day.
As we take this time to pause and reflect, we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. ❤️🤍💙
