One of the commonalities that the Blue Zones have is their residents are able to identify their purpose. In other words, what gets you up in the morning (besides coffee!)?
When the sun comes through your window think about what your "why" is. Work, family, community, nature, friends, or something else. Okinawans call it ikigai or “reason for being.” Costa Ricans call it “plan de vida.” Most commonly, though, it’s simply referred to as your life’s purpose. Knowing your sense of purpose might add an additional 7. years of extra life expectancy. Eat Well Buffalo encourages you to give thought to this powerful question for so many reasons.
