The American Red Cross has declared a National Blood Emergency. after the national blood supply dropped 25% in June. Today, the emergency was escalated to a National Blood Supply Crisis, with some critical blood types—including type O—approaching dangerously low levels.

Please consider giving blood at Mercy Hospital's Blood Drive on Wed., July 29 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm in conference rooms A & B.

All blood types are needed now. As a thank-you:

For the past 11 years, June 30 has held a special meaning for a former patient of Mercy Hospital. Each year on the anniversary of his emergency cardiac event, he returns to our 7 West Cardiovascular Unit carrying a beautiful bouquet of flowers. It is his heartfelt way of thanking the nurses, physicians and entire Mercy team who helped save his life.

His annual visit serves as a powerful reminder of why we do what we do and of the lasting connections formed through compassionate care. More than a decade later, his gratitude continues to touch the hearts of our caregivers and inspire everyone who meets him.

Mercy Hospital recently hosted our first EMS Stroke Hero Luncheon, honoring the extraordinary teamwork that helped deliver exceptional stroke care and make a difference when every second counted.

Please join us in congratulating William “Ross” Moritz on his recent retirement! 🎉After more than 26 years of dedicated service at Mercy Hospital, Ross is beginning a well-deserved new chapter.

From his start as a staff nurse in 2000 to becoming one of the foundational members of Mercy Hospital’s “Bed Board” and, for the past 16 years, serving as a Referral Support & Transfer Center Supervisor, Ross has made a lasting impact on Catholic Health and the countless colleagues, providers, and patients he has supported.

We are grateful for all Ross has contributed and wish him happiness, good health, and many wonderful adventures in retirement.
