June 6, 1944 • D Day

Today we remember the courage of those who stormed the beaches of Normandy and changed the course of history.

Many never made it home. Many carried invisible wounds long after the fighting ended. Their sacrifice secured freedoms that generations would come to enjoy.

At The Well Counseling & Consultation, we honor the veterans who answered the call and the families who endured the uncertainty, fear, and loss that came with it.

May we never forget their courage, sacrifice, and legacy.

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13

Hello everyone,

My name is Jason Williamson, MS, LPC Associate, LCDC, supervised by Anita McNew, LPC S, and I am the owner of The Well Counseling & Consultation.

I am proud to serve individuals and families throughout Texas through secure virtual counseling services.

Life can be challenging. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, trauma, depression, addiction, relationship difficulties, grief, stress, or major life changes, you do not have to face those struggles alone.

I work with children, teens, and adults and have experience helping children who struggle with anxiety, anger, emotional regulation, behavioral concerns, school stress, and the effects of difficult life experiences. I also work with veterans, active duty military, first responders, individuals in recovery, and adults navigating life transitions such as divorce, career changes, and loss.

My counseling approach includes Brainspotting, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Sandtray Therapy, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), helping clients move beyond simply surviving and begin building the life they want to live.

As a father, veteran, former first responder, and counselor, I understand that asking for help can be difficult. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where people can heal, grow, and move forward.

If you have questions about counseling or wonder whether therapy may be helpful for you or a loved one, I would be happy to speak with you.

June is PTSD Awareness Month.

PTSD does not always look like what people expect.

Sometimes it looks like:
• Being constantly on guard
• Avoiding places, people, or memories
• Difficulty sleeping
• Irritability or anger
• Feeling emotionally numb
• Panic attacks
• Difficulty trusting others
• Chronic anxiety
• Feeling disconnected from the people you love

PTSD can affect veterans, first responders, survivors of abuse, victims of violence, medical professionals, and anyone who has experienced or witnessed a traumatic event.

The good news is that healing is possible.

PTSD is not a sign of weakness.
It is not a character flaw.
It is not something you should just “get over.”

It is a normal response to abnormal experiences.

Recovery begins when we stop suffering in silence and start reaching for support.

If you are struggling, know this:
You are not broken.
You are not alone.
And your story is not over.

As a trauma therapist, I have had the privilege of watching people move from survival mode to living meaningful and fulfilling lives. Healing does not mean forgetting what happened. It means learning that your past no longer gets to control your future.

This PTSD Awareness Month, let’s reduce stigma, increase understanding, and remind people that hope and healing are real.

“Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me.” Psalm 23:4

If you or someone you love is struggling with PTSD, reach out for help. Healing is possible.

In ACT therapy, we learn that thoughts are like passengers on a bus. Some are loud. Some are angry. Some are scared. Some scream worst case scenarios nonstop.

But thoughts do not have to drive your life.

You can acknowledge them, let them ride along, and still move toward what matters most.

✔ You are not your thoughts
✔ You are not your anxiety
✔ You are the driver

Embrace the suck. Stay in the driver’s seat.

Your mind is not the enemy.
You do not have to win a war against your thoughts to heal.

Thoughts come and go like cars on a highway.
Feelings rise and fall like waves.
And somewhere underneath all the noise… there is still YOU. The part that notices. The part that observes. The part that keeps going.

This mindfulness exercise is built around ACT principles of defusion, acceptance, and self awareness.
Not to eliminate difficult thoughts…
But to help you stop getting trapped by them.

You are more than the stories your mind tells you.

Take a breath.
Slow down.
And come back to the present moment with me.

Sometimes healing doesn’t start with fixing everything.
Sometimes it starts with slowing down long enough to notice you’re still here.

Your mind may be loud.
Your body may feel exhausted.
Life may feel heavy right now.

But there is still a part of you capable of breathing… noticing… grounding… and beginning again.

This mindfulness exercise is for the people carrying stress, trauma, anxiety, grief, burnout, or just the weight of being human.

Take a breath.
Come back to this moment.
You do not have to fight every thought to find peace.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
It is also a time to recognize the people who sit with pain every day trying to help others carry what feels too heavy to carry alone.

As a therapist, I believe healing comes through connection, honesty, courage, and hope.
For me personally, that hope is found in Jesus.

Not everyone shares the same beliefs, and that is okay. But I do believe there is power in believing in something greater than yourself. Hope matters. Faith matters. Purpose matters. Sometimes even the smallest amount of hope is enough to help someone take one more step forward.

Therapy is not about having all the answers.
It is about helping people realize they are not alone in the struggle.

Keep going.
Healing takes time.
Light still reaches dark places.

I love seeing things like this.

This morning on my 2 mile walk, I came across this rock with a small patch of green growing right out of it. No perfect soil. No easy conditions. Just life finding a way anyway.

It reminded me that growth does not always happen in comfortable places. Sometimes the strongest growth happens in the middle of pressure, hardship, loss, stress, and obstacles that should have stopped us. Yet somehow, little by little, we keep pushing through the cracks.

Healing, growth, faith, recovery, purpose… none of it is always pretty. But even in hard places, life still finds a way to grow.

Keep going.
