Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that we have to earn the right to hurt.
We look around and think, other people have it worseâŚ.and maybe they do. But pain isnât a competition, and healing isnât handed out based on who suffered the most.
Can you see that line?
When we minimize our own struggles because someone elseâs seem bigger, we donât make the pain disappear. We just add shame to the mix.
Two things can be true at the same time:
â˘Someone else may be carrying a heavier burdenâŚ
and
â˘What youâre carrying still matters.
Your hurt doesnât need to be justified, compared, ranked, or explained. This just teaches you to feel guilty for hurting.
What if you stopped arguing with yourself about whether your pain is justified and simply acknowledged that it hurts?
See what happens when you let it just be hurt. Your pain doesnât need to win a contest to be real.
