Lyme disease isn’t the only tick-borne illness.

In this episode of The Spark, researchers from our Division of Geographic Medicine and Infectious Diseases talk about other tick-borne illnesses like Babesiosis, which unlike Lyme disease is caused by a parasite.

Babesiosis diagnosis can be delayed because symptoms are often mild, says Whitney Perry, MD, MS, Infectious Disease Physician at Tufts Medical Center and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine.

But for some patients the disease can be serious, so our researchers are working to provide better treatment options for more severe cases, says Eduardo Vannier, PharmD, PhD, Infectious Disease Researcher at Tufts Medical Center and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Find Kerry's full story in the comments.
