REMINDER: The Burlington County Library System is holding a special event to kick off its annual Summer Reading Program and spotlight the library’s adaptive materials, inclusive spaces and programing for children and adults of all abilities!

The Summer Fun for Everyone festival will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 11 AM to 3 PM at the Burlington County Library System’s Main Branch Library, 5 Pioneer Boulevard, Westampton. This free community event will feature inclusive activities for all abilities, along with entertainment, community resources and opportunities for individuals and families to connect.

Among the activities planned for the kickoff event are:
• A sensory-friendly activity zone with tactile play, soft seating, visual supports and quiet areas;
• Inclusive live entertainment, including interactive magic performances by magician Jake Strong and a hands-on musical instrument play zone from Keeping Music Alive;
• Adaptive arts and creativity stations designed for all skill levels and motor abilities;
• A community resource fair featuring organizations, disability advocates and family support services
• Summer Reading Program registration assistance and prizes.

It’s a free event with activities and programming entire families will enjoy. We hope to see you there!

The 70-year-old Delaware River bridge connecting the New Jersey and Pennsylvania Turnpikes is getting replaced with twin 3-lane bridges in a $1.6 billion project that will take five years to complete.

The current four-lane bridge carries 70,000 vehicles a day and was closed for several months in 2017 after cracks were found in steel and repaired. The new steel tied arch design is similar to the Portal North Bridge over the Hackensack River.

Here's how it'll work: First, a new bridge will be built about 195 feet north of the existing span over 3.3 years. Once that's done, the old bridge gets demolished and replaced with a second new bridge. The project received a $600 million federal grant in March, and a virtual public hearing is open for comments until July 13.

As we head into the summer months, we ask that you take a look around your houses. If you find any long-overdue library books, PLEASE return them. The Burlington County Library System is now FINE FREE. That means if you return the books in good condition, there will be no fine on your account.

At this time, the Library Company of Burlington has 185 items long-overdue items. The cost of these lost items is approximately equal to an entire year's inventory budget.
