Please help our founder and administrative assistant retain what few marbles they have left this year!

As you know we are moving Waypoint from our office in Mebane to the new space at 408 S. Spring St in downtown Burlington and we need your help! We need extra hands on Friday 6/12 to help deep clean the new space and we need help next week Monday 6/15 through Wednesday 6/18 with packing up the office and retail space. If you are interested/willing/able to help, please let us know! There is always food and drink, and I’m happy to offer bartering as well!

We are also looking for boxes and packing materials if you have any you are getting rid of.

A recent study highlights how resilience plays a key role in protecting mental health in high-stress professions like first response.

🧠 What the research shows:

First responders are regularly exposed to:
• trauma
• chronic stress
• unpredictable environments

And over time, that exposure can impact:
⚠️ mental health
⚠️ physical wellbeing
⚠️ job performance

💡 The key finding:

👉 Resilience acts as a buffer

It helps reduce the impact of stress and supports overall wellbeing—especially when paired with skills like mindfulness and adaptive coping.

⚠️ Without that buffer, stress doesn’t just stay at work—
it builds over time and can lead to:
• burnout
• emotional exhaustion
• decreased wellbeing

🛡️ What helps (according to the research):

✔️ Building resilience through training and support

You can’t eliminate stress in this job.

🚨 First Responder Wellness Week | March 23–27, 2026

This week is more than recognition—
it’s a reminder.

A reminder that behind every uniform is a person.
A person who shows up on someone else’s worst day… again and again.

And while we often call first responders “heroes,”
we don’t always make space for what that role costs them.

🧠 The weight they carry
💔 The calls that stay with them
🛑 The culture that sometimes tells them to stay silent

This week, let’s do more than say thank you.
Let’s commit to:
✔️ Supporting mental health as much as physical safety
✔️ Creating environments where asking for help is safe
✔️ Leading with awareness, not stigma

Where are you—right now?

Not where you should be.
Not where you used to be.
Not where you think everyone else is.

Just… where you are today.

This continuum isn’t a diagnosis or a character judgment. It’s a snapshot of how prolonged exposure to stress, trauma, sleep disruption, and moral weight shows up in the body and mind.

You can move back and forth on this scale.
You can be high-functioning and injured at the same time.
And needing support doesn’t mean you’re weak—it means your nervous system has been doing its job for too long without relief.

If you’re in Ready → protect it.
If you’re Reacting → intervene early.
If you’re Injured → care is treatment, not failure.
If you’re Critical → this is an emergency, and you deserve help now.

The most important question isn’t “What’s wrong with me?”
It’s “What do I need at this point on the continuum?”

Movement toward the left is possible—and you don’t have to do it alone.
