I need to say something that might be unpopular with my colleagues: Closure is a myth.

We’ve been told for decades that grief has a finish line, but that's not how the human heart works. When we promise 'closure,' we set families up for a sense of failure when the pain doesn't magically disappear. The 'Stages of Grief' by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross were actually designed for the dying, not the survivors. Real healing is about integration—learning to live alongside your loss.
