Recovery is about much more than stopping the use of alcohol or other substances. While abstinence is an important part of the process, lasting recovery often requires people to rebuild multiple areas of their lives that may have been affected by substance use.

That can include improving physical and emotional health, learning how to manage stress and cravings, repairing relationships, developing healthier routines, strengthening communication skills, and creating greater stability in areas such as housing, employment, and daily responsibilities.

Recovery can also involve identifying triggers, understanding patterns of behavior, addressing co-occurring mental health concerns, and building a reliable support system. These changes take time, practice, structure, and ongoing support.

At Abria Recovery, treatment is designed to support the whole person. Through individualized care, clinical services, skill development, accountability, and connection, individuals can begin building a life that supports long-term recovery.

Recovery is not only about what someone stops doing. It is also about what they begin to rebuild, strengthen, and move toward.

Abria Recovery is currently accepting referrals for ASAM 2.5 Partial Hospitalization and ASAM 2.1 Intensive Outpatient services.

Both programs offer morning and evening group tracks on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Groups are available to both men and women, providing flexible treatment options for individuals balancing work, family, and other responsibilities.

Men’s supportive housing and Board & Lodge options may also be available in Dakota and Scott Counties. Housing availability is separate from clinical placement and is based on eligibility and current availability.

Each referral is reviewed individually to determine clinical appropriateness, program eligibility, and the level of care that best supports the individual’s needs.

Your brain heals in recovery. Here’s what that can look like:

30 Days: Brain fog starts to lift. Sleep and focus begin improving.

60 Days: Cravings often become more manageable. Memory and mood continue to improve.

90 Days: Your brain’s reward system begins finding balance. Clearer thinking and better emotional control become more common.

365 Days: Healing continues. Many people experience stronger mental clarity, healthier habits, and a renewed sense of hope.

Recovery isn’t always a straight line, but every sober day gives your brain another chance to heal.

Which milestone surprised you the most?

Recovery isn’t built by one big decision. It’s built by the small choices we make every day.

Setting healthy boundaries. Asking for support when you need it. Managing stress in healthy ways. Creating routines that provide structure. Practicing honesty with yourself and others. Taking a moment to recognize your progress, even when it feels small.

These aren’t just good habits. They’re recovery skills that can strengthen resilience, build confidence, and support long-term wellness.

Growth doesn’t happen overnight, and progress won’t always be perfect. What matters most is continuing to show up for yourself, one day at a time.

At Abria Recovery, we believe recovery is about building the skills and support needed for lasting change. Every step forward, no matter how small it may seem, is worth recognizing.

What recovery skill has made the biggest difference in your life?

ASAM Level 2.5: Partial Hospitalization Services

One of the most important parts of the treatment process is making sure individuals receive the right level of care at the right time. Recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all, and every treatment recommendation should be based on a comprehensive clinical assessment.

ASAM Level 2.5, also known as Partial Hospitalization Services (PHS), is designed for individuals who need a highly structured level of treatment but do not require 24-hour residential care or medically monitored services. It provides intensive, coordinated treatment while allowing individuals to return home or to an appropriate supportive living environment after programming each day.

This level of care provides an intermediate level of support for individuals whose clinical needs exceed traditional Intensive Outpatient Programming (ASAM Level 2.1) but who do not require residential treatment. It offers the structure, clinical support, and accountability needed to help individuals build a strong foundation for recovery.

At Abria Recovery, we believe that every treatment recommendation should be individualized. Our team uses the ASAM Criteria to help determine the most appropriate level of care based on each person’s unique strengths, needs, risks, and recovery goals. Matching individuals to the appropriate level of care helps ensure they receive the right support at the right time.

If you have questions about ASAM Level 2.5 or would like to learn more about whether this level of care may be appropriate for yourself, a loved one, or someone you’re referring, our team is here to help.

When people think about recovery, they often think about one goal, staying sober. While that is an important part of the journey, lasting recovery is about so much more.

Recovery is built one day, one choice, and one connection at a time. It grows through supportive relationships, a safe place to live, meaningful work, better physical and mental health, healthy coping skills, and finding a sense of purpose again. These are all pieces of what professionals call Recovery Capital.

The more we invest in those areas, the stronger our foundation becomes. Recovery is not about being perfect. It is about continuing to build a life that feels meaningful and worth protecting.

At Abria Recovery, we know that healing looks different for everyone. Our goal is to help each person build the tools, confidence, and support they need to move forward long after treatment ends.

If you or someone you care about is ready to take the next step, we are here to help.
