🌽 Could the way we store our food affect our liver health?

Aflatoxins are harmful toxins made by certain moulds that can contaminate maize, groundnuts, grains and spices. Warm, humid conditions and inadequate drying or storage can increase exposure in African communities.

Repeated exposure increases liver cancer risk—especially in people living with hepatitis B.

Protect your household:
✅ Buy fresh supplies from trusted sellers.
✅ Dry crops thoroughly before storage.
✅ Keep food cool, dry and protected from insects.
✅ Discard mouldy, discoloured or damaged grains and nuts.

Cooking or roasting does not reliably remove aflatoxins. Food can also be contaminated without an obvious smell.

Our staples can be nutritious. The danger is contamination.

Men and breast cancer: you posed some questions, we found the answers!

10/17/2026

Men get breast cancer too. Rare does not mean impossible.

During Men’s Breast Cancer Awareness Week, October 17–23, let’s make sure the men in our lives know the signs:

• A lump or swelling in the breast
• Ni**le discharge or a ni**le pulling inward
• Skin dimpling, darkening, thickening or flaking

Age, family history and inherited gene changes can increase risk.

Notice a change? Get it checked—even if it doesn’t hurt. These signs are not always cancer, but they deserve medical attention.
