One of the best parts of caring for babies is celebrating the little things that are actually really big things. 👶

When Chloe first came in, her mom's biggest concern was the tension she had been carrying since birth. She almost always preferred looking to the left and had a difficult time turning her head to the right. Her goal was simple: help Chloe loosen up, move more freely, and continue reaching her developmental milestones.

Recently, Chloe's mom shared some exciting news.🤩

She can tell the adjustments are working.

Not because of one huge change or an overnight transformation.

Because Chloe is starting to do things she wasn't doing before.

She's beginning to lift her head on her own. She's turning her head left and right more easily. And she's moving with less tension throughout her little body. 👏

In fact, mom shared that Chloe now flips onto her belly and can really hold her head high. Tummy time used to be something she strongly disliked, but now she’s starting to enjoy it!

These are what we call soft signs of healing.

As a baby's nervous system begins to regulate and tension patterns start to unwind, we often see improvements in movement, coordination, posture, and motor development long before bigger milestones arrive.

In fact, on Chloe's recent progress check, mom reported improvements in head rotation, reduced tension, improved posture, better motor tone and coordination, and most importantly... a happier baby. 😁

It's still early in Chloe's journey, but seeing these changes already is something worth celebrating. We can’t wait to see her continue to grow and thrive! 💙

Nope, we don’t crack babies. 😅

Baby adjustments are gentle, specific, and use about the same amount of pressure you’d use to check the ripeness of a tomato. 🍅👶

You take your kid to practice. You make sure they stretch. You invest in the best gear and training. But have you ever thought about what’s happening inside their nervous system? 🧠

Here’s the truth: speed, coordination, recovery, and resilience can all be poorly affected by a nervous system in fight-or-flight. When stress builds up and the nervous system gets stuck, performance drops, and injuries rise.

Athletes under care at Thrive Chiropractic report:
✅ Fast reaction time + coordination
✅ Stronger, more balanced muscles
✅ Faster recovery between games
✅ Better sleep + energy
✅ Consistent performance all season

So many sensory kids aren’t “misbehaving” or “too hyper”…
Their nervous systems are often SEEKING input. 🧠⚡

That’s why movement can be so powerful.

We teamed up with f4f.northhills.pgh to show 3 movement activities we LOVE for sensory regulation 👇

One thing we love about Fitness 4 Focus is that they provide kids with sensory and developmental challenges a fun, safe, and encouraging environment to move, build confidence, and develop coordination and strength. Check out their 1 on 1 training sessions if your child needs more regulating sensory input!

1️⃣ Front Loaded Carries
(Carrying sandbags, weighted balls, etc.)

Why they help:
• promote body awareness and posture
• activate the core and stabilizing muscles
• help regulate energy and attention
• create a calming effect for the nervous system

2️⃣ Hulk Smashes
(Medicine ball slams)

Why they help:
• provide heavy sensory input
• release excess energy and frustration
• improve coordination and motor planning
• support emotional regulation and engagement

3️⃣ Tank Pushes
(Pushing weighted sleds or resistance equipment)

Why they help:
• deliver full body sensory input
• improve coordination and movement sequencing
• support focus and self regulation
• build confidence, strength, and endurance

The reason these activities can help so much is because movement gives the brain important sensory information that helps organize and regulate the nervous system.

BUT…

If a child’s nervous system is stuck, stressed, and overwhelmed, they often can’t process sensory input as efficiently as they should.
That’s why at Thrive Chiropractic we focus on helping the nervous system regulate and adapt better so kids can better respond to movement, therapies, and the world around them ❤️

If your child is doing all the “right” things but still struggling with focus, sensory challenges, emotional regulation, sleep, or overwhelm, there may be an underlying nervous system component being missed.
We’d love to help.
