As part of Certified Nursing Assistant Week, Trek Healthcare & Hospice was honored to treat our incredible CNAs to a special Ice Cream Social as a small token of appreciation for all they do.

💙 Passion 4 Compassion: Featuring Ashley Underwood, LPN 💙
At Trek Healthcare and Hospice, we are honored to have team members who truly embody compassion—and Ashley Underwood is one of those special individuals.
Ashley has been with Trek for nearly two years, serving as a hospice LPN. She was drawn to hospice care by a simple but powerful belief: people need support during life’s most vulnerable moments.
What Ashley loves most about her role is the ability to bring comfort and happiness to both patients and their families. Whether she’s traveling miles across rural communities or sitting quietly at a bedside, her presence makes a lasting impact.
One of the most meaningful parts of her work?
“Hugging crying family members and having patients hold my hands and tell me they love me.”
Ashley also helps remind others of something important about hospice care:
“You don’t come on hospice and just die. Hospice helps you enjoy your remaining days as much as possible.”
When asked what providing comfort at end-of-life means to her, she shared:
“It means no one has to die alone or in pain.”
To Ashley, being part of Trek means giving back to her community—especially those in rural areas who need compassionate care the most. And in her words, “The most rewarding part of my job is being there at the end of someone’s life… what an honor.”
Thank you, Ashley, for your heart, your dedication, and the compassion you bring to every patient and family you serve. 💙

Yesterday, we had the honor of hosting a luncheon for the incredible volunteers of Trek Healthcare and Hospice.

These individuals truly go above and beyond—bringing comfort, compassion, and peace to patients and families during life’s most meaningful moments. Their presence makes a difference in ways that words often can’t fully capture.

Our hospice volunteer program is second to none in the state of Montana. With over 20 dedicated volunteers, they continually create and expand programs to meet the unique needs of the families we serve. They give selflessly of their time, offering support, companionship, and kindness when it matters most.

What’s most remarkable is that many of them say they are the lucky ones—to be welcomed into these families’ lives and to share in such meaningful experiences.

Not only do they serve with heart, but they also go above and beyond in their commitment—contributing well over the number of hours required by Medicare for hospice volunteer programs.

To each of our volunteers: thank you. You are deeply valued, and your impact on our patients, families, and team does not go unnoticed. We are truly grateful for all that you do.

Today is National Healthcare Decisions Day.

Too often, end-of-life care decisions are made based on misconceptions or incomplete information—especially when families are already in crisis. Hospice care, in particular, is widely misunderstood, and that can lead to choices being made out of urgency rather than clarity.

Our goal is to encourage conversations before a crisis happens. Taking the time now to understand your options, ask questions, and make your wishes known can bring peace of mind to both you and your loved ones.
