Technology can be an important part of our everyday lives, but it can also be misused as a tool for monitoring, harassment, and control.

Stalking is unwanted, repeated attention from another person; and this can include behaviors from behind a screen. It can involve unwanted texts or calls, monitoring social media, tracking someone's location, and using cameras or apps to watch someone. Whether it’s physically stalking the victim or stalking through technology, any of these behaviors can be frightening and can impact a person's sense of safety even when the abuser is not physically present.

Understanding these actions can help individuals recognize that stalking and abuse aren't always visible from the outside.

💜Your safety and privacy matter.

“Maybe things will be different this time…” But when harmful behavior continues to happen, it can be difficult to know what to believe.

Abuse can sometimes be the result a cycle where hurtful or controlling behavior is followed by apologies, promises, affection, or a period of calm. This can make it especially confusing for individuals experiencing abuse and can lead them to question whether what happened was "really that bad."

It's important to remember that an apology doesn't erase what happened, and you don't have to minimize your experience because someone expressed regret. Genuine change is demonstrated through consistent accountability and behavior over time: not solely through promises to do better.

If you have ever found yourself questioning your own experience, know that you deserve to be met with understanding rather than judgment. At Selah Empowers, we are committed to providing education, tools, and resources that help people navigate their healing journeys and discover what healthy relationships can look like. Wherever you are, we’re here to walk alongside you💜

Control can take many forms, and it might not be easy to recognize at first.

Control in a relationship isn't always obvious. It can also appear in more subtle ways such as through guilt, intimidation, manipulation, monitoring, and threats. Over time, these behaviors can begin to affect a person's sense of independence, confidence, and ability to make choices for themselves – becoming part of a larger pattern of power and control.

Understanding these patterns doesn't mean every disagreement or relationship difficulty is abuse. However, recognizing when someone's behavior consistently takes away your choices, isolates you, creates fear, or makes you feel that you cannot safely be yourself can be an important part of understanding your experience.

Healthy relationships make room for your voice, your choices, your boundaries, and your relationships with others. You deserve to have those things respected. If some of these patterns feel familiar, know that you are not alone and your needs matter💜 Selah is here to help.

Happy National Nonprofit Day! Today we celebrate the heart behind all these organizations that exist to make a difference in the lives of others.

At Selah Empowers, we are so thankful for the opportunity to walk alongside people wherever they may be in their journey. Through educational resources, support, and connection, we create spaces where people can learn, grow, be encouraged, and discover hope for what comes next.

Whether you are beginning to recognize what healthy and unhealthy relationships look like, rebuilding your confidence, or looking for a safe place to take your next step, we want you to know you don't have to walk alone.

As we move into the future, we are expanding our resources, classes, and opportunities to educate and empower even more individuals. Again, we are so grateful for everyone who helps make this work possible and for every person who allows us to be a part of their story🤍

Our imperfections don't make us less. Instead, they remind us we're human and none of us are meant to walk through life alone.

Today, no matter where you are now and no matter what has happened to you, be encouraged and give yourself grace. Healing and rebuilding are going to have ups and downs, and those bumps in the road do not equal failure.

We are meant to grow, learn, connect, and support one another along the way. Always remember that your story matters and you are not defined by the past nor are you defined by mistakes. You are worthy of love, connection, and belonging🤍

Hope is the belief that something good is still possible, even when life feels so difficult now.

It doesn’t mean ignoring the hard things, and it doesn’t mean pretending everything is okay. Having hope is simply finding a small light in the middle of a challenging season and choosing to believe the darkness will not last forever.

There might be days when strength and joy feel far. Even in this, know you don’t always have to have all the answers, be perfect, or feel confident all the time. Being empowered by hope is allowing yourself to heal and move forward, holding onto the possibility of a better future.

Even in difficult and trying seasons, there are still moments of light and growth. You are not alone, and you are always stronger than you realize! 💜

Time for a “Selah Moment”! Sometimes taking a few minutes to pause (and in this case, write) can help us start the day with clarity.

This common 3 by 3 journaling exercise is a simple way to check in with yourself, recognize what you've already accomplished, and identify what you want to focus on next.

Grab a journal or some paper, a writing utensil, and spend just 3 minutes (one minute for each section) to:
1. Write three wins from yesterday,
2. Write three things you're thankful for, and
3. Write three tasks you'd like to do today.

You don't need a perfect morning routine or hours of journaling to make a difference. Even three minutes of focus can be enough to shift your mindset, celebrate progress, and create a little direction for the day.

Try it out and see how taking a few moments to pause and write can help you move forward intentionally.

Times of healing don't always happen through big, life-changing moments. More often, it's found in the quiet, everyday choices that help us move forward.

It might look like asking for help when you need it, learning something new about yourself, taking time to rest, setting goals for the future, or celebrating a victory that no one else can see. These moments may seem small, but each one reflects courage and resilience.

Remember, healing isn't about becoming who you were before. It's about discovering new strength, finding hope, and embracing the person you're becoming.

No matter where you are in life, every step forward matters…and every step is worth celebrating.🤍

Your healing journey is not a race, and there's no timeline you have to follow.

It's okay if you're taking more time than you think. It's okay if you're still learning, still growing, or still discovering new things. It's okay if some days feel better than others, and it's okay if you're not where you wanted to be yet.

Progress is not determined by your perfection. Instead, it's found in the actions taken to keep moving forward, even when the path feels uncertain or difficult.

Give yourself patience and compassion — Every season and every step, no matter how small, is part of your story.

💜 Wherever you are today, we hope you'll remember this: you don't have to have it all figured out to be making progress.

Learning to Rest: In a world that often celebrates constant busyness, it's easy to believe we always need to be doing more. But healing isn't a race, and growth doesn't happen without moments to pause.

Rest gives us space to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with what truly matters. It allows our minds to slow down, our bodies to recharge, and our hearts to find renewed strength.

Whether your reset today looks like reading a book, taking a walk, enjoying a quiet cup of coffee, or simply sitting in stillness for a few moments, know that taking care of yourself is time well spent.

🤍 Sometimes the most productive thing we can do is simply rest.
