Did you know that free medical, dental, and vision clinics are available right here in Michigan?

This past weekend, a couple members of our team volunteered with the Remote Area Medical (RAM) Clinic in Big Rapids. RAM provides free healthcare services to individuals and families who may otherwise face barriers to receiving care.

Events like these are made possible through the generosity of healthcare professionals, students, and community volunteers who donate their time to help others.

Whether you need care yourself or know someone who does, RAM is a wonderful resource serving communities across the country. Learn more about their mission and upcoming clinics at RAMUSA.org.

After many years of dedicated care, compassion, and connection, we are both celebrating and saying goodbye to someone truly special, Angie as she retires today.

Throughout her time with us, Angie has been more than just a valued member of our team. She has been a steady, caring presence for our patients and a source of warmth and support within our office. So many of you have been greeted by her kindness, reassured by her care, and impacted by the way she goes above and beyond for others.

Please join us in thanking Angie for everything she has given to our office and our community, and in wishing her a retirement filled with joy, rest, and adventure. While we will miss her deeply, we are so excited for her as she begins this next chapter.

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Brooke Castillo back to Advanced Optometry this summer!

Many of our patients may remember her from her earlier years working in our office as a scribe, and more recently from her spring internship while completing her education at the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University.

This spring, she officially graduated and earned her Doctor of Optometry degree, and we could not be more proud to see her return to our office as Dr. Castillo, O.D. It has been so special watching her journey come full circle.

We’re thrilled to have her back with our team for a few days this summer, and we know many familiar faces will be excited to see her again!

As we prepare to say goodbye to someone so special, our office recently gathered to celebrate Angie and her upcoming retirement.

Although her official last day with us will be May 29th, we wanted to take time together to celebrate everything Angie has meant to our office over the years.

If you stop by the office over the next couple of weeks, you may notice some festive decorations celebrating our wonderful optical manager as we count down to her retirement.

After many years of caring for our patients and supporting our team, Angie’s kindness, warmth, and heart have left a lasting impact on everyone who has had the chance to know her. We are so grateful for the memories, laughter, and dedication she has shared with all of us.

While we will miss seeing her in the office, we are so excited for her as she begins this well-earned next chapter filled with relaxation, travel, and new adventures.

It’s been over a week since our team attended the Vision Source Exchange in Nashville, and we’re still reflecting on everything we learned and experienced there.

One of the biggest takeaways was a powerful reminder of where optometry is headed. The role of optometrists continues to expand not just in vision care, but in medical eye health as well. Through advanced technology, continued education, and organizations like Vision Source and the American Optometric Association, we’re able to provide a higher level of care than ever before.

We are so much more than just glasses or a quick prescription. Our focus is, and always will be, providing the best possible care for our patients and community.

We’re incredibly grateful for opportunities like this to learn, grow, connect, and bring new ideas back home to Advanced Optometry.
