A lot of people walk out of their first session feeling lighter and assume the work is done. That relief is real. It's also usually temporary. Feeling better is what happens when you finally say the thing out loud. Getting better is what happens months later, when you respond differently to the same old trigger without having to think about it. One is a moment. The other is a rebuilt habit. Both matter. Only one lasts.

It sounds simple: Use things. Love people. Worship the divine.

But most of us struggle to keep that order.

We often confuse friendship with convenience and begin valuing people according to what they can do for us. We become attached to possessions, comfort, status, and success as though they can give us lasting meaning. And without realizing it, we can place ourselves—our desires, opinions, and ambitions—at the center of everything.

The order slowly becomes reversed: we love things, use people, and worship ourselves.

The Christian life calls us back to what is real. Things are tools. People are made to be loved. God alone is worthy of worship.

The principle is simple. Living it requires humility, self-examination, and grace. 🙏😎

Too many conversations are ruined because people react to the emotion they feel instead of the words that were actually spoken. Slow down. Listen carefully. Clarify before assuming. Communication improves when understanding becomes more important than reacting.

Kids rarely remember the expensive toys, perfect vacations, or spotless houses.
They remember presence.

The moments that shape a child are often the simplest ones: sitting beside them at bedtime, listening to their endless stories, staying calm when they are overwhelmed, and making them feel seen, safe, and loved.

Children spell love with time and attention.

Years from now, they may forget what you bought them… but they will remember how you made them feel. ❤️

Modern culture tells us to chase comfort, pleasure, and whatever “feels good” in the moment. But many people eventually discover that comfort alone does not satisfy the human soul.

Real joy comes from meaning, responsibility, sacrifice, love, faith, family, and living with purpose. Ironically, the people most obsessed with happiness often seem the most empty — while those devoted to something greater than themselves often radiate peace and joy.

Purpose leads to joy.
And joy is true happiness.

Most people today are chasing happiness but confusing it with comfort.
Comfort feels good for a moment. Meaning changes who you become.

In a recent commencement speech, Harrison Butker said:

“Find a place for yourself. Whatever talent or ambition you have, find some way to put it to work. Build something that didn’t exist yesterday. Stand up for someone who can’t stand up for themselves. Bring people together that weren’t talking before. That’s leadership. That’s what moves the needle.”

That captures something modern psychology is finally rediscovering:

Profound happiness does not usually come from chasing pleasure.
It comes from purpose, responsibility, sacrifice, growth, and contribution.

Hedonic pleasure says:
“How do I feel good right now?”

Meaning asks:
“Who am I becoming?”
“What am I building?”
“How am I helping?”
“What kind of person do I want to be?”

In therapy, I often help clients move from merely avoiding pain toward building a meaningful life. Anxiety, depression, addiction, emptiness, and burnout are often made worse when life loses direction and purpose.

You do not have to become famous to live meaningfully.
Sometimes meaning begins with:
• repairing a relationship
• becoming emotionally honest
• serving your family
• creating something valuable
• standing up for what is right
• helping another person suffer less

A meaningful life is rarely the easiest path.
But it is often the deepest and most fulfilling one.

Feeling Overwhelmed Lately? You're Not Alone.

Many people are carrying more stress than they realize.

Work pressure, relationship tension, financial worries, and constant digital noise can slowly build until everything starts to feel overwhelming.

Common signs include:

• difficulty sleeping
• irritability or feeling on edge
• trouble concentrating
• feeling emotionally exhausted
• withdrawing from people

You don’t have to wait until things fall apart to get help.

Talking with a therapist can help you step back, understand what’s happening, and develop practical ways to regain balance.

If you're thinking about therapy but aren't sure how to choose the right therapist, I wrote a guide that can help:
