Friday, June 19 at 7p, Catherine is offering a sound bath & guided relaxation (nidra in Sanskrit) at Yoga Zen. 🪷

We Appreciate: ALESHA 🫶

Alesha has been a familiar face at Yoga Zen for many years - both as a student and while working the front desk. 💚

She’s also a registered yoga teacher and this past year she began teaching an Adapted/Gentle class on Saturdays at 11:30a! 🥳

Furthermore, Alesha has been filling in for Deanie temporarily so you can check out class with her on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:30a. We’re grateful for her subbing during this time! 🙏

Lastly, Alesha represents Yoga Zen while she teaches a 1x/month private yoga class for the evening young adult group at Autism Support of Kent County. ♾️

I’m Catherine, owner & lead teacher at Yoga Zen. 🪷

I’ve been practicing yoga for 13 years and, while I’d like to say I’ve got it “all figured out”, I’m still hopelessly human. 💚

I’ve been teaching heartfelt classes for almost 10 years and the themes I share are ones I’m working to embody as well. I say what I, myself, need to hear. 👂🏻

Before yoga my coping skills were all different methods of dissociation. I’ve experienced years of trauma that have led to disordered eating, substance use, and dissolution of relationships. Yoga has helped unravel trauma’s effects but I am certainly a work in progress. 🌳

At Yoga Zen, my goal is for imperfect people to practice being humans. Messy, authentic, growing humans. I can’t promise that you’ll learn from teachers who “know it all” but I can promise you that all our teachers are learning alongside you. 📚

Part of my healing process is allowing myself to be seen, heard, and understood. Yoga has strengthened my ability to do that, and sharing on social media plays a role, too. 🫶

If you are on a healing journey, I hope you know that at Yoga Zen, we’d be honored to walk alongside you. Not in front of you, showing the way, but as a companion in the process. 🫂

Thank you for inviting Catherine to train your camp counselors on some yoga and breathing tips!

These movements and breathing techniques will be led by the counselors with their campers this summer in the morning and evening. Such a lovely offering to share with the kids coming to camp! 🙌🏻🌱☀️

This 60 minute class with Catherine will include an immersion of sound with a guided relaxation meditation for an experience that will leave you feeling balanced, relaxed, and rejuvenated. 😌

Appropriate for all levels, this class doesn’t require any movement. Dress in comfy clothes and bring any pillows, blankets, or other relaxation aids. 🛌

Katie’s vinyasa sequences will challenge your body and your brain - come see what she’s all about every Wednesday at 6p for Vinyasa. 💪🏼

Vinyasa is a flow-based class linking breath to movement to create a meditative experience. Class will move at a moderate pace and will include options and modifications to accommodate all levels and abilities from beginners to more seasoned practitioners. 🧘🏽‍♀️🧘

Workshop Sunday May 3 at 4p with Marnie Horton ✨

Join us at Yoga Zen for a group breathwork meditation.
Breathwork is all about releasing and receiving - releasing stress, toxins, and emotional energy, and receiving clarity, peace and healing. ✌🏼

During this session, you will lie on your back and breathe in a circular, rhythmic pattern for thirty minutes. You will then transition to a place of deep relaxation and meditation. You will be supported throughout the process with specific coaching, essential oils, music, and personal attention. 💚

Come learn more about the “webbing” of your body SUNDAY 4/26 at 3p with Darcie. 🟢🟢

Using therapeutic massage balls, you will learn practical tools and tips for self-maintenance for your fascia system. Fascia links everything inside of you together - from muscles, to connective tissue to organs. 💚⁣

This workshop combines elements of yoga and self-massage to unlock tension in your fascia and improve your ability to move your body. 😍⁣

For all experience levels, you’ll gain valuable insight and tools for how to maintain your fascia after the workshop and you’ll leave feeling more balanced, inspired, and refreshed.👏🏻⁣

Join Catherine THIS Friday, 4/24, from 630-8p for a Somatics practice. Our time together is designed for us to feel a sense of embodiment, wholeness, and relaxation. 🙂

This class moves slowly and is accessible to ALL levels of mobility and movement experience, including beginners. Somatics emphasizes internal physical perception and supports the mind-body connection. It includes gentle movements, guided breathwork, and mindfulness practices. 🌳

1.5 contact hour CEUs are available through Yoga Alliance for registered yoga teachers. 👩‍🏫
