UPDATED OBITUARY-TOMMY MORMAN

Thomas “Tommy” E. Morman, Jr., 78, passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. Born October 26, 1947, in Aberdeen, he was the son of the late Thomas E. Morman, Sr. and the late Mary Margret Morrow Morman. On April 14, 1991, he married Ronda Going Morman, and they have spent over 35 years together. Tommy was a longtime, faithful member of Lewis Memorial Methodist Church in Calhoun City.

Tommy worked his entire professional career in finance and retired after many decades of service. He was a longtime member of the Calhoun City Masonic Lodge.

In his free time, there was nothing Tommy loved more than horseback riding. He loved everything to do with horses, and he was a team roper for many years. He loved to play the harmonica, and had the opportunity to play at Ground Zero in the delta. In his later years he loved doing leatherwork, sometimes with skins he trapped himself. He loved hunting and trapping, and he took every opportunity he had to teach his grandsons about it. Tommy was a huge Mississippi State Bulldogs fan, and he loved to watch State ballgames on the tv with his friend, Jack James. He also loved to grill and cook over an open fire/coals, or, as he called it, cowboy cooking. Anyone who knew Tommy knows that he never met a stranger; he could meet someone anywhere and make connections with them like he had knew them for a decade.

Tommy was the textbook definition of a family-man. He loved his family with all his heart, and he has especially had a soft spot for his grandchildren. If you were to ask anyone of his family member who he was, they would tell you he was the most incredible Dad and PopPop. He made sure to instill his strong faith and values into his children, grands, and greats, which shaped them into the people they are today.
