Curious about the difference the PACE model of care has on our patients' health outcomes? A recent research study from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, surveyed data from 3 million PACE eligible (qualifying for Medicare & Medicaid) older adults and found that PACE participants experienced significantly lower rates of hospitalization, emergency room visits, and death compared to comparable enrollees in non-integrated Medicare Advantage (MA) plans.

CHA PACE is proud to deliver this important model of care to low-income older adults, keeping them safe, healthy, and independent in the community. To learn more about CHA PACE, visit us at the link below or call us at 617-575-5850.

Thanks to the generous $100,000 grant provided by Cambridge-based pharmaceutical company Biogen Inc., the CHA PACE program has been able to deliver consistent, nutritious meals to meet the needs of our 700 plus members. As part of Biogen’s community health initiative to combat food insecurity, the grant allowed PACE dieticians the capacity to continue providing nutritious, patient-specific meals to our low-income older adult population and was key in providing the funding necessary to expand their meal delivery services. In the first half of 2026, CHA PACE was able to deliver 9,372 community meals to our participants, allowing us to meet greater meal delivery demand without compromising our PACE participants' nutritional needs.

"I don't know where I'd be without PACE."

Prior to joining CHA PACE in 2024 Denise Renaud was struggling not only to stay on top of her health, but her basic day-to-day needs as well. "I was in a bad place. Nothing was stable. Nothing was going right. I wasn't able to help myself and I'd stay inside all day."

With CHA PACE, Denise found the wraparound care she needed to meet her various health-related needs as well as emotional and social support that has played an important part in remaining independent. "I go to the day center three times a week. I've met so many friends that I've gotten to know really well and the staff knows everything about me. It makes my day and keeps me active. I don't know where I'd be without PACE."

"CHA PACE saved my life."

As we celebrate National PACE month we're proud to share stories of appreciation from our staff, participants, and caregivers about how PACE has positively impacted their lives.

Brian Doucette of Somerville joined CHA PACE in Spring 2025. "I was not on a good trajectory with my health. Truly, CHA PACE saved my life. I can honestly say that without the coordinated care and without the kindness and compassion of my team, I don't think I'd be here. They take care of everything."

September is National PACE Month and we are proud to recognize the efforts and impact of our CHA PACE staff in delivering the coordinated and all-inclusive care that is essential to keeping our participants aging in place. With over 200 PACE programs serving over 95,000 participants nationwide, the PACE program allows older adults to remain living in their homes rather than nursing homes. National PACE Month is a time to reflect on the importance of PACE care models in the lives of our participants while also celebrating the dedication of our CHA PACE employees in keeping our population safe, healthy, and independent. Happy PACE Month!

The CHA PACE Day Center in Cambridge recently concluded its summer Olympic Games, a week where PACE participants compete against each other to determine the very best in competitions such as bean bag toss, plastic cup dart shooting, and mini golf, amongst other events. The games serve not only as a means to recognize excellence in these events, but also as a way to promote physical activity, socialization, and camaraderie amongst day center participants. Congratulations to all that participated and a special shout out to the hard work from our Activity Coordinators that make it happen every year!
