Genealogy Society Hosts Program on Genealogy Full Text Search

No more do genealogists have to read long history books to find information on their ancestors. Now with the advent of Full Text Search, the computer can search out ancestors’names or
other information in long documents and help find our ancestors, plus save us much time in our research.

Full text search is the topic of the August 6 meeting of the Blue Hills Genealogical Society. The public is invited to join the meeting at the Barron Senior Center, 12 N. 3 rd St., Barron at 3:00.
Membership applications will be available for those that would like to join the genealogy society. Membership is also available online at the www.bhgsbc.org website under the join tab.

Genealogy Society Sponsors Museum Gardens Tour

The Blue Hills Genealogical Society will sponsor a Pioneer Village Museum garden tour for their program July 9. Those attending are to meet in the Museum Cultural Hall at 2:00 to begin the tour. Carol
Kettner, master gardener, will give the tour of the Museum’s gardens and talk about gardening in the days of our ancestors.

School Records Topic of Genealogy Society Meeting

The Blue Hills Genealogical Society is happy to present Pioneer Village Museum archivist Charles Knapp Thursday, April 9, 2026, 3:30 p.m. at the Barron Senior Center, 12 N. 3rd St., Barron. Mr. Knapp will give a Power Point program about Barron County school records that are preserved at the Pioneer Village Museum. This information is valuable for family historians and rarely found online. The program is free and open to the public.

Many items of genealogical value have been stored and preserved at the Museum in Jerome Hall and have not been available to the public in the past. With the new Museum Welcome Center these items will be cataloged and stored in the Archival Library where they will be available for research. Mr. Knapp will give a sneak preview of the school records April 9. The Welcome Center is anticipated to be open to the public in the Fall. Open houses will be advertised when the building is completed, and the public will be able to tour the facility.

The Blue Hills Genealogical Society will move its Resource Library and headquarters from Cameron to the new Museum Welcome Center when the building is completed. All of the items preserved in the Resource Library will be available for research. Register of Deeds To Speak at Genealogical Society Meeting

Thursday, March 5, 3:30 p.m., at the Barron Senior Center, 12 N.
3rd St., Barron, the Blue Hills Genealogical Society will host speaker Margo Katterhagen, Barron County Register of Deeds.
Mrs. Katterhagen will discuss what vital and land records are available at the Register of Deeds and how to research them for family history. The meeting is free and open to the public.
