Please remember the Carter-Council family in your prayers.

Pauline Carter Council, a distinguished attorney and cherished family matriarch, passed away on May 31, 2026, at Eternal Hope Hospice in Griffin, Georgia. Born on April 26, 1950, Pauline lived a life defined by her deep love for God and family. She was a caring woman, affectionately called "Momee" by her nieces and nephews, whose hearty laugh, generous heart, and welcoming nature made everyone feel at home.

A proud graduate of Camilla Consolidated High School, Class of 1968, Pauline pursued higher education with determination and grace. She attended Morris Brown College, graduating in the Class of 1972. Upon graduation from Morris Brown, she pursued a career in community development with the South Georgia Regional Development Center, where she exemplified a passion for enhancing the lives of the elderly. After almost twenty years of dedicated service to her community, she returned to school, pursuing a Juris Doctorate, while balancing her commitment to family life. With remarkable perseverance, she earned her law degree from the University of Florida School of Law in 1994, fulfilling a life-long goal and paving the way for a successful legal career focused primarily on family law. As an attorney and special prosecutor, Pauline was known for her integrity, compassion, and steadfast commitment to justice.

Pauline will be remembered for the kindness, warmth, and humor that defined her life. Whether sharing stories around the dinner table, offering wisdom and encouragement, or simply listening, she had a gift for making people feel valued and understood. She especially treasured time spent with loved ones during the holidays, particularly on the Fourth of July and Christmas, where she worked tirelessly to prepare memorable meals that are still craved to this day.

Above all, Pauline was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family was the center of her world. Her love, guidance, and unwavering support have shaped generations and will continue to be felt by those who were blessed to know her.

Pauline is survived by her children, Dawn Montgomery (Cedric), Kimberly Sheridan (Michael), Ashley Council, and James Council, III; her siblings, Maxell Carter Cooper, Larry Carter, Allen Carter, Barbara Carter Hilliard, Sherry Carter Logan, and Teresa Carter; seven grandchildren, Myan Montgomery, Jaylyn Roberts, Cedric Montgomery, Jr., Paul Michael Montgomery, Leah Sheridan, Lauren Sheridan, and Amari Jones; and five great-grandchildren, Marlee Thornton, Melanie Thornton, DJ Thornton, Kylee Roberts, and JT Roberts.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Bernice Carter and Willie Frank Carter, Sr.; her sisters, Manola Carter Robinson and Donna Carter Banks; her brother, Willie Frank Carter, Jr.; and great-grandchild, Cannon Thornton.

Though Pauline's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of her family and friends, her legacy of love, laughter, and perseverance will endure.
