Grateful to attend the Pennsylvania State of the Union on Latino Health today. It was an eye-opening conversation about the health challenges affecting Latino communities across Pennsylvania and the importance of access, trust, prevention, and strong community partnerships.

For me, community health means showing up, listening, and helping people understand the care options available to them.

Before the diagnosis, before the labs, before the treatment plan—there is a person who wants to be heard, understood, and cared for.

That belief is at the heart of why I started OROCK Direct Primary Care.

I wanted to create a place where primary care feels personal again. Where patients have time to talk, ask questions, understand their health, and build a real relationship with their provider.

OROCK is about more than appointments. It is about access, prevention, education, relationships, and having someone in your corner as you navigate your health.

You don’t need a gym membership or a perfect workout plan to take care of your body.

🚶🏽‍♀️ Take a 10-minute walk
🪜 Choose the stairs
💃🏽 Dance while you make dinner
🧹 Clean the house with some music on
🌳 Take the kids outside
🧘🏽‍♀️ Stretch before bed

It all counts.

This week, don’t focus on doing more. Focus on moving more often.

Small choices, repeated consistently, can support your heart, strength, energy, mood, and long-term health.

Healthcare costs are changing — but you still have options.

With health insurance premiums continuing to be a concern for many Pennsylvania families, this is a good time to understand that your health insurance plan does not have to be your only way to access primary care.

At OROCK Direct Primary Care, we offer another option.

For a predictable monthly membership, patients can have access to primary care with more time, easier communication, transparent pricing, and a provider who gets to know them — without billing insurance for their primary care visits.

For some families, that may mean using Direct Primary Care alongside their insurance. Others may choose a higher-deductible or alternative health plan while using DPC for their routine primary care needs.

Direct Primary Care is not health insurance, and we still encourage patients to have appropriate coverage for emergencies, hospitalizations, specialists, and other major medical needs.

But when it comes to everyday primary care, you deserve to know that you have options.

Healthcare doesn’t begin when someone walks into a clinic.

It begins in our homes, our churches, our schools, our workplaces, and throughout the communities where we live.

For me, community health is about showing up, building trust, helping people recognize health concerns earlier, and making sure people know they have someone in their corner.

That’s a big part of why I created OROCK Direct Primary Care.

Healthy eating doesn’t have to mean a complete overhaul of everything on your plate.

This week, we’re focusing on simple, realistic habits that can support your energy, blood sugar, heart health, weight, and overall wellness over time.

Think:
• building more balanced meals
• making protein a priority
• adding more fruits and vegetables
• choosing fiber-rich foods
• and remembering that hydration is part of nutrition too

You don’t have to do everything perfectly. Pick one small change you can be consistent with this week and build from there.

Direct Primary Care can mean something different for every person.

For one patient, it meant calling when she was sick, getting an appointment quickly, starting the treatment she needed, and avoiding an unnecessary trip to the emergency room — so she could rest, recover, and get back to college and the things that matter to her.

For another, it simply meant stopping in because life was happening and she needed someone to talk to.

That’s what I love about Direct Primary Care.

Sometimes you need treatment.
Sometimes you need answers.
Sometimes you need reassurance.
And sometimes you just need someone in your corner.

Whatever Direct Primary Care means for you, I’m here for it.

Fall is a great time to reset the routines that support how you feel every day — and sleep is a good place to start.

Good sleep supports energy, focus, mood, recovery, and overall health. But better sleep doesn’t always require a complicated routine. Sometimes, a few consistent changes can make a meaningful difference.

Start small this week: choose a bedtime you can stick with, create a calmer evening routine, and pay attention to how rested you feel in the morning.

And if you’re getting enough sleep but still waking up exhausted, it may be worth looking a little deeper. Fatigue can sometimes be connected to stress, medications, sleep disorders, anemia, thyroid concerns, vitamin deficiencies, or other health factors.
