What does fluoride do, and how does it benefit your child's teeth? Since kids are still learning how to brush effectively, fluoride adds an extra layer of protection where they need it most. If you have questions about fluoride, ask Dr. B at your next appointment or give us a call: 408-871-2885

Can cavities be contagious? While you can't “catch” a cavity, the bacteria that cause cavities can pass from one person to another through everyday moments like sharing a spoon, sipping from the same cup, or even a kiss on the lips. In fact, many babies are first exposed to these bacteria from their parents or older siblings long before their first tooth ever appears. This doesn't mean you need to stop showing your little one affection. It simply means that taking care of your own oral health matters more than most people realize. When the whole family brushes, flosses, and stays on top of dental visits, everyone benefits, especially the tiniest members of the household.

Pacifiers can be a lifesaver for soothing little ones, but did you know they can also impact your child’s smile over time? Prolonged use, especially after age 3, can affect the development of teeth and jaws. That’s why early weaning matters.

If your child isn’t ready to give it up just yet, you’re not alone. Try swapping the pacifier for a comfort item, gradually limiting use, or getting creative with a “bye-bye binky” routine. And when in doubt, Dr. B and our team are great partners in helping make the transition smoother.

Dental X-rays are a safe and important part of your child’s care.

If your child needs an X-ray, Dr. B will take extra precautions to keep radiation exposure as low as possible. With tools like lead aprons and advanced digital imaging, we’re able to capture what we need while prioritizing your child’s safety.

Quick, comfortable, and carefully monitored, X-rays help us catch small issues early and keep growing smiles on the right track.

What's a dentist's favorite movie? We'll give you a hint…

Let's NOT send your plaque to the future. Because trust us: plaque doesn’t age well. It hardens, turns into tartar, and can lead to cavities and gum issues faster than you can say “1.21 gigawatts.”

Remember: brushing and flossing daily, along with regular visits to Dr. B. Pediatric Dentistry, can keep your smile healthy now and in the future.
