🌟 Resident of the Month: Kenneth Adams 🌟

This month, we’re proud to recognize Kenneth Adams as our Resident of the Month!

A Campbellsville native, Kenneth dedicated 32 years to serving his community through law enforcement, including 16 years as Chief of Police. His commitment to protecting others and leading with integrity left a lasting impact on those around him.

When he wasn’t serving his community, Kenneth enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He also had a passion for aviation, earning his private pilot’s license and even owning his own airplane! How cool is that?!

Above all, Kenneth treasures his family and speaks with great pride about their accomplishments. His love for them is evident in every story he shares.

Here at our community, you’ll often find Kenneth enjoying his daily walks with our team member, Mark. Their conversations have become a special part of each day, reminding us that meaningful connections are at the heart of what we do.

Thank you, Kenneth, for your years of service, your stories, your kindness, and the joy you bring to our community. We are honored to celebrate you this month! ❤️

🌿 How to Talk to a Parent Who Says, “I’m Not Leaving Home”

For many older adults, home represents independence, comfort, memories, and identity.

So when a parent says, “I’m not leaving my home,” what they’re often saying is:

❤️ “I’m scared.”
❤️ “I don’t want to lose my independence.”
❤️ “I’m afraid of change.”
❤️ “I don’t want to be a burden.”
❤️ “I want to stay in control of my life.”

If you’re having this conversation with a loved one, try these approaches:

✔ Listen first. Ask what concerns them most and truly hear their fears.

✔ Avoid arguing. Conversations built on compassion are more effective than conversations built on pressure.

✔ Focus on goals, not the move. Ask: What would help you feel safer? More supported? Less overwhelmed?

✔ Involve them in decisions. Maintaining choice and control can make a big difference.

✔ Start the conversation early. Exploring options before a crisis allows families to make thoughtful decisions together.

The goal isn’t to take away independence.

The goal is to preserve quality of life, safety, dignity, and meaningful independence for as long as possible.

These conversations can be difficult—but you don’t have to navigate them alone. 🤍

⭐ Employee Spotlight: Meet Jackie Burke! ⭐

This month, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on our amazing Administrative Assistant, Jackie Burke!

Jackie was born in Campbellsville, Kentucky, and grew up in Greensburg, Kentucky. She is a proud mom to two children and loves spending time with her two fur babies.

Jackie has been a valued member of the Bluegrass family for 1 year and 9 months, and in that time, she has become someone we can always count on. From helping families and residents to supporting our team behind the scenes, Jackie truly does a little bit of everything to help keep our community running smoothly.

Her positive attitude, willingness to jump in wherever she’s needed, and caring heart make her an important part of the Bluegrass Way family. We are so thankful for everything she does each day!

💙 Thank you, Jackie, for your dedication, compassion, and all the many ways you make a difference. We’re lucky to have you on our team!

🍌🍨 There’s always room for a little sweetness!

Today our residents enjoyed an afternoon of creating their own banana splits, complete with all their favorite toppings. From sprinkles and whipped cream to plenty of smiles, it was a simple activity that brought great conversation!

Sometimes it’s the little moments—sharing dessert, reminiscing about favorite ice cream flavors, and enjoying time with friends—that make a day extra special.

At our community, we believe meaningful moments don’t have to be extravagant. They can be as simple as gathering around the table, making memories, and sharing a sweet treat together. 🤍🍒

Year after year, Connie lovingly makes this special treat for everyone to enjoy, and it has become a tradition our residents and staff look forward to every Fourth of July. It’s more than just ice cream—it’s the love, generosity, and memories shared around the table that make it so special.

🌿 The Questions Families Should Ask Before Choosing Senior Living

Choosing a senior living community is a big decision — and every family wants to know they’re making the right choice.

When touring or researching communities, consider asking:

✔ What does a typical day look like for residents?
✔ How do you support independence while providing care?
✔ How do you communicate with families?
✔ What training does your team receive?
✔ How do you handle changes in health or care needs?
✔ How do you create meaningful engagement for residents?
✔ What makes your community feel like home?

The best communities don’t just provide a place to live — they provide connection, purpose, safety, and belonging.

Finding the right fit matters.

Because choosing care isn’t just about today…
it’s about creating the best quality of life for the future. 🤍
