Jeanettie Blake Lewis, 92, of Cole Rd., Candor, died Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care in Pinehurst after a short illness. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in the Eagle Springs UMC Cemetery.

Born in Moore County, on July 14, 1934, she was the daughter of Andrew B. and Essie T. Blake. She was a member of Eagle Springs UMC, was a dietitian at Samarkand Manor in Eagle Springs for over 20 years, and was a graduate of West End High School, class of 1952. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Nelson Lewis.

Mrs. Lewis is survived by her son, James Nelson Lewis (Bonnie) of Seagrove; 3 daughters, Audrey L. Springs (Bennie) of Mooresville NC, Penny E. Black (David) of Candor and Deanna L. Bynum of Star; 9 grandchildren, Todd Lewis, Neal Lewis, Kristy Greene, Rob Ester, Dr. Anna Ross, Joseph Springs, Rick Bynum, Worth Bynum, and Paige Moore; 9 great-grandchildren, Taylor Holyfield, Bobby Chase Lewis, Tyler Parsons, Lily Parsons, Raelynn Bynum, Vera Springs, Stella Springs, Cole Springs and Baby Girl Moore.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM prior to the service on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home.

Lucy Renee Hamilton Haywood Hall, 76, of Norman passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Hospice Haven in Rockingham. Born on August 24, 1949, in Montgomery County the daughter of the late Alcon Woosley Hamilton and Lela Inez Reynolds Hamilton.

Ms. Hall was a loving wife, mother and Memaw, devoted homemaker, worked on the family farm, and was the caregiver to her daughter, Ramona Lynn Haywood who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and daughter, she was also preceded in death by her first husband of 38 years, Roger Dale Haywood and by her second husband, Norman Lins Hall, Jr. ; by her son, Rodney Dale Haywood, by a grandson, Michael Heavner; by brothers, Joseph Vaughn Hamilton and Roger Dean Hamilton, by her sister, Hilda Ann Thompson, and sister in law, Carolyn Haywood Hamilton.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cynthia Rene’ Haywood Murray (Ron II) daughter in law, Lisa McCormick Haywood; brothers, Allen Woosley Hamilton (Linda) and Ronnie Lee Hamilton (Sherry); grandchildren, Morgan Elizabeth Murray, Kelsey Rene’ Murray, Samantha Adriene Williamson (Chalin), Ronald Lee Murray III (Ashley), and Travis Lee Heavner (Shana); great-grandchildren, Gracelyn, Jackson, Brayden, Nash, Liam, Olivia, Lucas, Emry, Ron IV, Ava, Ivy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at Ellerbe Fellowship Baptist Church on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 11 am with Rev. Brian Clark and Rev. Kevin Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Norman Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Candor Briggs Funeral Home on Friday, July 17 from 6 until 8 pm and at other times at the home of Cynthia Murray.

Memorials can be made to Richmond County Hospice.

Mary Hinson McDowell, age 91, of Montgomery County NC, went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, July4, 2026 at Sandy Ridge Memory Care in Candor Nc after an extended decline in health.

She was born on August 19, 1934, in Montgomery County NC and was the daughter of the late Alma Rebecca and William Claude Hinson from Candor NC.

Upon graduating from Candor School, Mary moved to Asheboro and began a lifelong career at Acme-McCrary Corporation. She was employed at the Asheboro location until retiring. Mary was a dedicated worker and loved working for this textile company. She moved back to Montgomery County to the family farm upon retiring.

Mary loved to work in her flower beds, shopping, and spending time with her family. She especially loved going out to eat with her cousins after moving back to Candor. Mary also loved Gospel Music, having grown up with her mother playing the organ. She frequented services and events at Sardis United Methodist Church, which she attended in her youth. After moving back to Montgomery County, she also frequently attended Main Street Baptist Church in Biscoe.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Coy McDowell. She was also preceded in death by her brother James Hinson, Sr and sister Earline Crook, nephews Barry Hinson and Carl Crook and sister-in-law, Lou Ellen Hinson.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Lola Hinson and six of her seven children and their families; brother, Ernest Hinson, his two sons and one daughter and their families; sister, Claudia Spoon, her three sons and their families; sister, Irene Reeves and her four children and their families; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Although Mary and Coy had no children of their own, Mary spent precious time with several of her nieces over many years.

There will be a viewing available at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 8 at 2:00 PM. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Sardis United Methodist Church Cemetery at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Glenn Hancock and Pastor Bill Bean.

Lonnie Wayne Campbell, 73, of Candor, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2026 at his residence. Memorial Services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, June 11, 2026 at Sardis United Methodist Church, with Rev. Glenn Hancock officiating.

Born in Montgomery County on April 24, 1953, he was the son of Lonnie Alexander and Emmer Lee Wilkes Campbell. He was a proud veteran of the US Army and then transitioned to the Army National Guard, and later a truck driver for Perdue. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Alexander Ray Campbell in 1968 and a sister, Kathy Chappell in 2025.

He is survived by his faithful companion and best friend Buddy; 2 sisters, Linda Campbell Duncan (John) of Orange Park FL and Cynthia Campbell Boyd (Danny) of Candor; nieces and nephews, Michelle Fletcher, Ericka Silva, Angela Taylor, Bo Ashley Duncan, Casey Elizabeth Duncan, Jacob Anthony Boyd, Hannah Abril Boyd, and Megan Chappell.

Martha “Shortie” Allen Morgan, age 85, passed away on April 25, 2026, at First Health Hospice House. Martha was born on November 28, 1940, in Star, NC to the late Solomon Cleveland Allen and Etter Monroe Allen. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper until her retirement.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Flynn Morgan, brother, J.D. Allen, sisters, Ruth Williamson, May Williams and Collen Boroughs.

She is survived by her daughters, Lana Morgan of Chapel Hill and Ginger Jones (David) of Columbia, S.C., grandchildren Morgan Jones, 1LT Spencer Jones and Savannah Jones, sisters, Louise Giles and Inez Blake.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family. She especially cherished her two daughters and three grandchildren. She loved Elvis Presley, NCIS, Beach Music and socializing with her friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of First Health Hospice House for taking wonderful care of Shortie.

J Ynes Salazar, 81, of Westridge Lane, Biscoe, died Thursday, March 19, 2026 at FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care in West End. A funeral mass will be 2:00 PM Saturday, March 28, 2026 at San Juan Diego Mission in Robbins, with Father Javier Castrejon officiating. Burial will follow in the Candor Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Biscoe Community Center from 11 AM Thursday, March 26 until 11 AM Friday, March 27, 2026 and at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home from 5 – 8 PM Friday, March 27, 2026.

Born in Mexico on April 20, 1944, he was the son of Hermenegildo Salazar and Petra Morales. He had worked in the textiles industry.

He is survived by his wife, Maria R. Salazar; 5 sons, Eleazar Salazar (Irene), Fausto Salazar (Tabitha), Isaias Salazar (Yolanda), Jaime Salazar, and Victor Salazar (Irene); 2 daughters, Maria Felix Salazar (Eleuterio) and Ines Salazar (Yone); sister, Escolastica Salazar Morales; 21 Grandchildren; 13 Great-grandchildren.

The family will be receiving friends at 3674 Candor-Troy Rd., Biscoe NC 27209 up until the time of the services on Thursday.

Laura Kaye Chisholm Wilson, 57, of Dowd Rd., Candor, died Friday, March 13, 2026 at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord. Graveside Service will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Chisholm Family Cemetery (Lovin Hill Rd.), Candor, with Rev. Jeffery Pope officiating.

Born in Moore County on April 3, 1968, she was the daughter of Jerry and Carole Greene Chisholm. She was a member of Candor Baptist Church and had worked with Montgomery County Schools as a teacher's assistant and a bus driver. She had an associate's degree in business. Laura most of all loved her family, loved music and dancing, no matter where she was! She had danced with the Quicksilver Cloggers and enjoyed playing pool and beach trips.

She is survived by her husband of 25 plus years, James Michael “Slick” Wilson; 2 sons, James Clifton Wilson (Courtney) of Mt. Gilead and Jacob Michael Wilson of the home; mother, Carole Greene Chisholm of Albemarle; brother, Michael Chisholm (Amy) of Salisbury; sister, Lisa Chisholm Smith (Kevin) of Matthews; 2 grandchildren, Gracelyn and Cody.
