Suffering from arthritis in your feet? (Or maybe you know someone who is.) Here are some handy stretches specifically created for arthritis foot sufferers:

1. Knees-Straight Calf Stretch:
Get some type of stepping block or book to stand on and place it against the wall of your home. You will then need to step upon the block with only the tips of your toes and always make sure you brace yourself up against a wall or chair. You will then need to lift up and down with the front of your feet. Keep doing this over and over until you feel a slight burn and stretching in the legs.

2. Great Toe Extension Stretch:
First, sit down in a chair or couch. Make sure you're comfortable. Once you're seated, remove your shoes and grab the heel of your foot with one hand, and with your other hand, pull on the backs of your big toe. Just listen to your body and you’ll know when enough is enough. Repeat this type of stretch no more than five times.

3. Ankle Alphabet:
Sit down in a comfortable chair or couch. Make sure that your feet are touching the floor with your shoes off. Now, trace all the letters of the alphabet with your toes on the floor. This specific foot stretch is one of the best foot stretches for arthritis because it not only stretches the muscles and joints in a person’s foot, but it extends up the leg for a great leg workout as well.

Three years ago, Nadeen became paralyzed after being diagnosed with meningitis of the spine. Hearing Loss is something that many elderly people face.They may seem to be irritable, when in fact they’re simply frustrated because they can’t hear what you’re saying. Some ideas when dealing with hearing loss:

• Get their attention. Put your hand gently on their shoulder, or speak their name to get their attention, before you give important information.

• Reduce background noise. Turn off the music or television. When in restaurants and social gatherings, sit away from crowded areas.

• Speak clearly. People with hearing loss hate mumbling. Face the person and enunciate clearly. Speak at a speed slightly slower than normal (but not too slow).

•Speak loudly. Speak a little more loudly than normal, but don’t shout.

•Repeat yourself. People with hearing loss may compensate by nodding as though they understand, when in fact they didn’t hear you.

•Have good lighting. Facial expressions and body language can be seen more clearly in well-lit areas.
