Meet Alice, our four-legged family member π
If you've ever visited our facility, chances are you've met our beautiful German Shepherd, Alice. More than just a dog, Alice has been a source of comfort, companionship, and unconditional love to so many over the years. β€οΈ
π Alice recently celebrated her 10th birthday. She understands both English and Russian commands, and her owner affectionately calls her "Devochka" (little girl) and "Moya Lyubov" (my love). Alice has had a gentle soul since she was a puppy. When her owner first met her, he asked if she wanted to be named "Alice," and she responded by licking him right on the face. From that moment on, the name (chosen in honor of his grandmother) was a perfect fit. She's always been friendly, playful, and eager to make new friends, whether they had 2 legs or 4.
Alice's loyalty to her owner has always been remarkable. Whenever he experienced a fall before coming to Canon Lodge, Alice would lay across him, refusing to let anyone move him until she knew he was okay. That fierce devotion is just one of the many reasons she is so loved. When her owner became our resident, Alice was temporarily placed in a kennel. The staff there began looking for another home for her, but our team knew Alice belonged with the family she already had.
Our Executive Director, Activities Director, and Director of Nursing came together to find the best solution, and Alice was welcomed into our Canon Lodge family. Since then, our Executive Director, Dawn, has lovingly cared for Alice while ensuring she remains close to the people who adore her most. Today Alice isn't just her owner's companion. She has become everyone's. Whether she's greeting visitors, comforting residents, or simply brightening someone's day with a wagging tail, Alice reminds us that love, loyalty, and friendship come in all forms. Thank you for making Canon Lodge feel even more like home. π‘
