Today’s department head spotlight features Ronda Randolph. (This is awkward because I’m the one who manages our page.)

Ronda is our Marketing Director. She has been at Renaissance for almost 5 years. Ronda started her marketing career in home health, for 10 years, before she switched to skilled nursing marketing in 2021.

Ronda grew up in Canton and graduated from Canton High School. She also graduated from the University of Illinois. She lives on a farm, outside Canton, with her husband, Rye, their son and a whole slew of animals including cats, dogs, chickens and cattle. Ronda also has two adult daughters - one in Chicago and one in Champaign.

Ronda says, “My favorite thing about working at Renaissance is the team with which I work. This group, from top to bottom, follows a strong moral compass. Our main focus is always doing what’s best for our patients/residents. That is unusual but something that is important to me.”

Stay tuned, next week, for a few more department head spotlights. Have a great weekend!

Today’s department head spotlight focuses on Annette Burkiett.

Annette is our Dietary Supervisor. She has worked at Renaissance for 13 years.

Annette graduated from Spoon River Valley High School. She went on to study at Carl Sandburg College and received her Dietary Manager certification through the University of Florida.

Annette lives, in Fairview, with her husband. They have been married for 40 years and have 2 children and 1 very spoiled dog. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, swimming with sharks and snorkeling. Annette is also active in her local American Legion Auxiliary.

Annette says, “I love meeting new residents and helping them meet their goals. I also enjoy all my kids on the 300 wing and seeing them succeed.”

Annette does an amazing job of managing our patients’ dietary needs and restrictions. It’s a department most people, outside of the skilled nursing world, don’t think about very much but it is critical to the health and success of our patients and residents. Thanks, Annette!

Today’s department head spotlight features Ashley DelMastro.

Ashley is our Director of Nursing. She grew up in St David and graduated from Lewistown High School in 2000. Ashley also graduated from Spoon River College with an Associate Degree and Graham Hospital School of Nursing in 2016 with an RN. She started working at Renaissance, in 2016, as a 100 hall floor nurse. Ashley was promoted to DON in 2022.

Ashley now lives, in Canton, with her significant other. She has an adult special needs son at home. She also has an adult daughter and son-in-law. Ashley has 3 bonus children as well. In addition to her human children, she is a fur mom of 2 cats and grandma to 4 snakes, or “grand slithern”, as she calls them.

Outside of work, Ashley loves to travel to different countries and enjoys scuba diving in those countries. She also volunteers her time with LEPC (Local Emergency Planning Committee) as a liaison for our local long-term care facilities.

Ashley says, “I appreciate that every day provides an opportunity to make a meaningful difference. As Director of Nursing, it is rewarding to walk through the halls, knowing residents by name, seeing staff succeed and knowing the care team made a difference in someone’s daily life.”

Ashley does a great job of managing both patient care and staff engagement. Renaissance has watched Ashley grow, as a nurse and a leader and we are very proud to have her on our team.

Happy Monday, everyone! Today’s feature department head spotlight is Sarah Thompson.

Sarah is our Therapy Program Assistant Manager. She graduated from Lincoln Land Community College in 2007 with a Certificate in Occupational Therapy Assistant and an Associate in Applied Science. Sarah first started at Renaissance in 2012. She left in 2019 and returned in 2021. She became our Therapy Program Assistant Manager shortly thereafter.

Sarah lives here in Canton. She has 2 children and 2 adult step-children.

Sarah says, “I truly enjoy the spectrum of care at Renaissance. In a typical treatment day, I can go from a rehab-to-home patient to a pediatric patient to a long-term care geriatric patient. I am challenged, clinically, with all aspects of occupational therapy to provide the most appropriate care for the varying caseload. I enjoy getting to know the population I work with across all ages and supporting them in varying stages of life. I am glad to be working in the community I grew up in and to give back to this community.”

Sarah and her therapy team are an integral part of RCC. We are very thankful for their dedication to our patients!

Today, we’re featuring Jessica Bainter for our Department Head Spotlight.

Jessica is our MDS Coordinator. For those who may not know what an MDS Coordinator is, it is an RN or LPN who manages the assessment and care planning process for residents in long-term care facilities and nursing homes.

Jessica was born and raised in Canton. She graduated from Canton High School in 2001 and Graham Hospital School of Nursing in 2009, as an RN. Jessica also earned an associate degree in general studies from Spoon River College in 2009.

Jessica is married to her husband, Kyle, and they have two sons. They live on a farm where they raise their boys and operate a family business here in Canton. They enjoy traveling as much as possible and love the beach, fishing and being outdoors.

Jessica has worked at Renaissance for 12 years. She started as a floor nurse on our rehab to home wing and was promoted to MDS Coordinator after 6 months. She says she originally came to RCC because she had just had her first son and needed a day shift position. She had no intentions of staying here very long but needed something until she found a more permanent job. Twelve years later, she’s still here because she loves our residents and her coworkers. Jessica says, “What I love most about my job is that I have a lot of freedom to interact with the residents and have fun with them. I enjoy the challenge of the MDS world and everything that comes with it.”

Jessica’s role, at Renaissance, is very important and we are thankful to have someone who is so good at what she does.
