Today marked a meaningful moment for G.A. Carmichael Family Health Center our CEO Dr. Coleman and Director of Communications, Dawn Cuello when meeting with Mississippi State Health Officer Dr. Edney to discuss opportunities to strengthen health and access to care across Mississippi.

The conversation was grounded in mutual respect, admiration, and a shared commitment to the people of our state. The opportunities discussed were absolutely exciting, and we are optimistic about what can come from this strengthened relationship, with measurable outcomes and data to demonstrate the impact of our collective work.

For G.A. Carmichael, this meeting represented more than a conversation. It was an opportunity to build bridges, strengthen collaboration, and look toward what is possible when we work together for Mississippi.

There is something powerful about watching an idea come to life. Ideas become conversations. Conversations become partnerships. And partnerships can change communities.

Members of the G.A. Carmichael Family Health Center Executive Team and several Board Members are in Las Vegas for the 2026 NACHC Community Health Institute (CHI) & Expo, joining community health leaders from across the country to learn, connect, and bring new ideas home.

Our presence at CHI is about more than attending a conference. It is about gaining knowledge, strengthening partnerships, exploring innovative approaches to care, and identifying opportunities that will help G.A. Carmichael continue to grow and expand our impact.

August 3 was more than a ribbon cutting for G.A. Carmichael Family Health Center. It was the celebration of a vision realized, a promise fulfilled, and a new chapter officially beginning in Yazoo City.

Surrounded by our staff, Board of Directors, community partners, elected officials, friends, and supporters, we proudly opened the doors to our new Health & Wellness Center and celebrated a milestone years in the making.

Under the leadership of our CEO, Dr. James L. Coleman, Jr., this project represents G.A. Carmichael's continued commitment to expanding access and investing in the health and well-being of the communities we are privileged to serve.

We were especially honored to have Congressman Thompson join us for this historic occasion as we celebrated the opening of the Congressman Bennie G. Thompson Health & Wellness Center. His presence made an already unforgettable day even more meaningful.
The morning was filled with powerful moments from the ribbon cutting and dedication ceremonies to special recognitions, the unveiling, music, fellowship, tours of the new facility, and the opportunity to finally welcome our community inside.

And to our incredible G.A. Carmichael staff, this celebration would not have been the same without you. You showed up, worked together, welcomed our guests, handled every detail, and represented G.A. with pride. Seeing our G.A. family gathered together to celebrate what we have accomplished made the day even more special.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this day possible and to everyone who came out to celebrate with us. August 3, 2026, will forever be part of the G.A. Carmichael story.
