“When I look back on the single mother that I was at 25 years old, I would’ve never thought that God would have brought me to a point where I am now a CEO of a nonprofit that helps to fill the gap that was in my life at that time.”

Maiharriese Wooden founded the Stark Blessing Box Initiative in 2019 after experiencing food insecurity herself. What began as one small box has grown into more than 30 blessing boxes across our community.

A blessing box meets the needs of others through a “take what you need, leave what you can” method. Food and toiletries are shared anonymously.

This month, through NCPL’s Meet the Need program, we’re proud to support the Stark Blessing Box Initiative.

Today, we’re celebrating Maiharriese’s story.
