Part II of our Kratom v. 7-OH series.

If you look up 7-OH online, you will mostly find people telling you it is safe. There is reason to be skeptical of that.

Researchers have documented coordinated and often deceptive marketing behind these products. There is also strong suspicion that some of the glowing reviews come from paid promoters and automated accounts posing as ordinary users, which would push cautionary voices further down the feed.

Things worth noticing before you trust a review:
• A wave of nearly identical "life changing" posts
• Accounts that only ever talk about one brand
• Comments insisting someone "just dosed wrong" when they report side effects
• Anyone claiming it is impossible to get addicted
• A push toward "extracts" or 7-OH as the next level up
• Promises of a one time miracle detox

Our honest opinion: most people using these products were never given accurate information to begin with. They were sold a wellness product and handed an opioid. That is not a personal failure.

"I thought I was just buying kratom."

We hear that sentence a lot at Windmill Wellness Ranch, and we do not blame anyone for saying it. The two names get used interchangeably, including by people who should know better. Headlines say "kratom." The shop stocks both behind the same counter. If nobody else is drawing the line, why would a customer?

So here it is.

Kratom is the leaf of a tree, 𝑀𝑖𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑔𝑦𝑛𝑎 𝑠𝑝𝑒𝑐𝑖𝑜𝑠𝑎. Its main active compound is mitragynine.

Here is the part almost nobody knows: 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐤𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐦 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐨 𝟕-𝐎𝐇 𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥. 7-hydroxymitragynine forms through oxidation, when mitragynine is exposed to air, heat, and light during drying and processing. Even in dried leaf, it stays a trace compound at roughly 0.01 to 0.04 percent by weight.

Now compare that to what is on the shelf. The gummies, tablets, liquid shots, syrups, and nasal sprays sold as 7-OH concentrate or semi-synthetically produce that compound at levels the plant could never deliver on its own.

So when a package says "all natural," ask what that word is actually doing. He**in starts with a poppy.

This is not stronger kratom. It is a different drug, and it behaves like an opioid.
