PCOS has a new name: PMOS, Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome. The “metabolic” is the part that matters most.
This has always been an insulin resistance condition first. Weight gain, irregular cycles, high androgens, fatigue, sugar cravings — these are the results of elevated insulin in the body over time. And up to 58% of post-menopausal women develop full metabolic syndrome if it’s left unaddressed.
What most women are never told: optimal fasting insulin is 2–5 IU/dL. Most labs don’t flag it as abnormal until 25.
A new name is progress. But the standard of care needs to catch up. If you’ve been diagnosed with PCOS and haven’t had a real metabolic workup, that’s the conversation worth having. Link in bio to book a discovery call.
