JANET E. LEREW

Janet E. Lerew, 91, passed away on February 20, 2026 at Bethany Village in Mechanicsburg.

Born March 7, 1934 in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late Ray K. and Sara (Wilson) Lerew.

Janet graduated from Boiling Springs High School in 1952. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from West Chester State Teachers College in 1956 and later received her Master’s degree from Penn State University in 1962. Janet was also a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society.

Janet began her teaching career at Big Spring School District before dedication over 30 years to the Mechanicsburg Area School District as an elementary music teacher. She shared her love of music with generations of students before retiring.

A longtime member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, she was active in both the choir and handbell choir. Her faith was the foundation of her life, evident in her kindness, hospitality, and steadfast love for family and friends.

Janet is survived by her nephews, David (Sandra) Lerew of Baltimore and Jason (Christine) Lerew of Allentown; her niece Victoria (Raymond) Ritter of Carlisle; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ray W. Lerew.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 11:00 AM from Otterbein United Methodist Church, 647 Forge Road, Carlisle with Rev. Steve Salisbury officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Boiling Springs. A viewing will be held on Thursday at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the music program of her church or to a favorite charity.

MARY ELIZABETH FOLTZ

Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Foltz, 99, of Carlisle, died January 14, 2026.

Born July 8, 1926 in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Marie (Redding) Small. She was the widow of Glenn Foltz, whom she married July 5, 1948.

A 1944 graduate of Gettysburg High School, she joined the Cadet Nurse Corp at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. She volunteered at Carlisle Hospital, was a BoyScout Den Mother and later became a Realtor. She was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle.

She enjoyed sewing, duplicate bridge, Mahjong, gardening, crossword puzzles, knitting and baking.

Libby had may friends in Florida where she and her husband wintered fro 20 years.

Libby had worked as a bookkeeper at Gettysburg National Bank and was the first hostess at Rillo’s Restaurant, Carlisle.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Surviving are her children: Rick (Peggy) Foltz of Memphis, TN, David Foltz, Glenn Foltz, Jr. and Susan Reisinger (Donald), all of Carlisle. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren: Ricky, Clayton, Colin Foltz and Jacob, Luke, Hannah and Faith Resinger, a great granddaughter, Alexis Foltz and a great grandsons, Leelan Reisinger. Lincoln Reisinger and great granddaughters Emery, Layna, Hadley Reisinger.

There will be no services.

Karen Elaine O’Donnell Enck, 77, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
Born on August 20, 1948, in Orlando, Florida, Karen was the daughter of the late William Orrin O’Donnell, Sr. and Elaine Prather O’Donnell.
Karen was raised in Orlando, graduated from William R. Boone High School, and went on to study at Athens College in Alabama, where she met her husband, Gene. After their marriage, she moved to Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where she lived for over 50 years. She worked in retail and as a school bus driver, but the roles she treasured most were those of a mother and homemaker.
Karen was kind and compassionate, with a warm and welcoming spirit. She could strike up a conversation with anyone and had a natural ability to make people feel comfortable and valued. Karen found great joy and fulfillment in raising her children and delighted in spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving sister and aunt who cherished her family deeply. Karen valued her many friendships, maintaining close ties with friends from her youth and forming meaningful connections throughout her life. She found pleasure in gardening and took great pride in her Irish heritage, especially celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. A devout and faithful Catholic, Karen attended Mass at St. Patrick Church in Carlisle.
She is survived by her sons: William (Jessica), Brian (Melissa) and Michael (Nicole); and her ten grandchildren, Ryan and Connor, children of William and Jessica; Finn, Lyla and Bennett, children of Brian and Melissa; and Lexis, Michael, Preston, Arabelle and Gavin, children of Michael and Nicole; as well as her siblings, William O’Donnell, Jr., Diane Engel, Mary Beth O’Donnell, and Kathleen Francisco (John).
In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her former husband, W. Eugene “Gene” Enck, and her brother, Daniel O’Donnell.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Shrine Church 152 East Pomfret Street, Carlisle, PA 17013, with the Reverend Donald Bender, Celebrant. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will take place at Mt. Zion Cemetery followed by a reception at 1:00 p.m. at The Cellar at Allenberry.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Church, 152 E Pomfret St., Carlisle, PA 17013 or the Alzheimer’s Association.
