Me in therapy: “I’m pretty good at handling stress.”

Also me: survives entirely on caffeine, avoidance, and pretending I’m fine. ☕😂

Sometimes we become so used to functioning in “survival mode” that stress starts to feel normal. We keep pushing through, staying busy, overcommitting, and telling ourselves we’ll rest later.

But constantly running on stress can look like:
✨ Trouble sleeping
✨ Feeling irritable or overwhelmed
✨ Emotional exhaustion
✨ Overthinking everything
✨ Saying “I’m fine” when you’re actually drained

The truth is, coping isn’t just surviving the day — it’s learning how to care for yourself while you move through hard things.

And yes… drinking iced coffee while avoiding your feelings is a very relatable coping strategy. 😅

🤝 Stronger Together

One of the most powerful messages a grieving child can hear is:

"Me too."

When children connect with peers who understand loss, they often discover something important:

💜 They're not alone.
💜 Their feelings make sense.
💜 It's okay to remember and talk about their loved one.
💜 They can learn ways to cope while still honoring their grief.

Our 6-week grief support group for children ages 8-11 is designed to foster connection, healing, and hope in a caring environment.

📅 Tuesdays beginning June 30
⏰ 6:30-8:00 PM
📍 Ascent Counseling & Wellness, Carlisle

Facilitated by Courtney Kramer, LAPC and Certified Informed Grief Professional.

✨ Progress in therapy is not always obvious.

Sometimes it looks like:
• Saying "no" without guilt
• Taking a break when you need one
• Prioritizing your own needs
• Choosing rest instead of pushing through

Growth isn't always about doing more.

Sometimes it's about finally giving yourself permission to do less.

💜 Healing can be quiet, but that doesn't make it any less meaningful.

🌱 Children grieve differently than adults.

Sometimes grief looks like tears.

Sometimes it looks like anger.

Sometimes it looks like questions that seem to come out of nowhere months after a loss.

Children need spaces where their feelings are welcomed, understood, and gently explored.

Our Stronger Together Grief Support Group helps children ages 8-11 connect with others who are experiencing loss while learning tools to navigate big emotions and life changes.

Because healing doesn't happen by pretending everything is okay.

Healing happens when children know they don't have to carry their grief alone. 💜

-🧠 Myth: “Therapy means something is wrong with me.”

Truth: Therapy is a proactive step toward mental wellness. It’s about learning, healing, and thriving — not just surviving.

People go to therapy for many reasons:
✨ Managing stress and anxiety
✨ Navigating relationships or life changes
✨ Learning healthier coping skills
✨ Processing emotions
✨ Building confidence and self-awareness
✨ Having a safe space to talk openly

You don’t have to wait until you’re completely overwhelmed to ask for support. Just like we care for our physical health, our mental and emotional health deserve attention too.

Seeking help is not weakness — it’s self-awareness, courage, and growth. 🤍

💜 Is your child navigating the loss of someone important? 💜

Grief can be difficult for children to understand and express. Many kids feel alone in their emotions, unsure how to talk about what they're experiencing.

Stronger Together: Grief Support Group for Kids (Ages 8-11) provides a safe, supportive environment where children can:

✨ Connect with peers who understand loss
✨ Learn healthy coping skills
✨ Express feelings in age-appropriate ways
✨ Honor and remember loved ones
✨ Build resilience and confidence as they move forward

Healing is holistic.

It’s not just “thinking positive.”
It’s your mind, body, relationships, environment, routines, boundaries, and nervous system all working together like an emotional group project. 🌿

Sometimes healing looks like:
• going to therapy
• getting better sleep
• learning to say no
• drinking water
• processing grief
• moving your body
• reconnecting with yourself
• allowing rest without guilt

You don’t have to heal every part of your life overnight.

Small, intentional steps still matter.
Gentle progress is still progress. 🤍

When you're ready to start your journey, we're here for you.

POV: you said “I’m fine” 14 times today…
…while stress-eating trail mix in your car like a raccoon with unresolved emotions. 🦝

Mental health tip of the week:
Just because you’re functioning doesn’t mean you’re not overwhelmed.

You are allowed to:
• rest before burnout
• ask for help before a breakdown
• cancel plans without writing a 12-page apology letter in your head

Tiny acts of self-care still count.
Even if today’s self-care was sitting in silence for 4 minutes avoiding everyone. 😌
