EVEN THOUGH THEY LOOK THE SAME NOT ALL FIRE EXTINGUISHERS ARE CREATED EQUAL
Although fire extinguishers look closely the same as far as size and color, they really are not created equally.
When comparing prices with our competitors be certain that you are comparing apples to apples by ensuring you know the MODEL NUMBER you are comparing to ours. They all may look alike but how they are built and what is inside them widely differ. This can be the difference between whether or not that extinguisher works when it’s most needed.
Our competitors sell mostly light to medium duty fire extinguishers with ALUMINUM valves. According to the NFPA 10 regulation and the manufactures themselves, they all list this as a extinguisher that is primarily for use inside covered areas such as offices and shops, and would be recommended when you have less than a gallon of fuel source to have to control.
Our extinguishers have BRASS valves which are designed for medium to heavy duty use and outdoor mounting such as in vehicles, plants, and other outdoor facilities.
Brass valves will not corrode over like aluminum valves when exposed to the elements. That corrosion in not easy to see but it will not allow you to operate the handle when you need to use it.
Another thing to consider is any aluminum valved extinguisher will always require an additional part to be replaced every time the extinguisher is opened for service, repair, or refill. By purchasing an extinguisher with a brass valve, those valves can be cleaned and reused, which saves you anywhere from $12-$25 additional cost down the line.
We build our relationships on integrity and want to sell not the cheapest but the best fire extinguishers that we can. This includes the peace of mine of knowing the equipment we sell is actually going to work when your employees need them the most.
When getting quotes from providers- Don’t assume all fire extinguishers are the same- ask the model number, what its valves are made of, and what type of media it has in it.
In addition, when you purchase an extinguisher from Mobile Safety, it comes with the first year certification tag included. You may find them cheaper at Walmart or the hardware store but you still need your annual tag. By the time you take it for that certification you dont realize it but now you have the same or even more invested in a fire extinguisher that may not be the best for your environment but lured you in because you “thought” it would be cheaper.
You may find that sometimes there is a $5 to $10 difference but in the long run you won’t have that extra cost when it does come time to repair them and more importantly you won’t have a huge loss of equipment or even your employees lives by not providing them equipment for the job.
Mobile Safety is an authorized and highly trained fire extinguisher sales and service business. We have been doing this for 20+ years and are here to help. We are not trying to sell equipment to make a quick dollar. We actually care about our clients and want them to have the equipment they truly need to help get them home every day.
