An Evening With the Chevra Kadisha

There are some traditions in Jewish life that happen quietly, with extraordinary care and dignity. The work of the Chevra Kadisha is one of them.

We invite you to join us at Aaron-Ruben-Nelson for a special community open house to learn more about this sacred tradition and the care, respect, and compassion that are at the heart of Jewish burial preparation. We’ll also open our doors for tours of the funeral home and give our community an opportunity to see firsthand where and how we care for Jewish families.

During the evening, we will be especially honored to recognize Morris Profeta and Gabrielle Tamler for their several decades of devoted service to the Chevra Kadisha.

Monday, October 12, 2026 | 5:00–7:00 PM

Dear JCC Indianapolis Members and Friends,

Our hearts are with everyone affected by the devastating flooding across Greater Indianapolis. We are actively assessing the community’s needs and determining how JCC Indianapolis can provide meaningful support during this difficult time.

As an immediate response:

All first responders are invited to use the JCC free of charge from Sunday, August 16, through Wednesday, August 19. We are deeply grateful for their tireless service to our community.

All members of the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis are welcome to use our facility during this period. With several YMCA locations forced to close because of the flooding, we are pleased to open our doors and welcome their members to the JCC.

The American Red Cross of Indiana (ARC) also needs volunteers to assist with flood-relief efforts. If you are able to give your time, we strongly encourage you to volunteer and help our neighbors as they begin to recover. https://www.redcross.org/local/indiana/volunteer.html

In moments of crisis, community is more than a word. Community is how we show up for one another. Together, we can offer comfort, strength, and practical support to those who need it most. JCC Indianapolis is here for our community, and we will continue to share additional ways to help as needs emerge.

With care and solidarity,

Sam Dubrinsky, CEO

🇺🇸 Honor Our Flag with Us 🇺🇸
At Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary, we are honored to help our community properly retire worn and unserviceable American flags. We recently collected over 50 flags from our flag retirement drop box, and they will be respectfully retired through the cremation process in accordance with the U.S. Flag Code.
As we sorted through the collection, we also discovered several flags that had been dropped off by mistake. These flags are in excellent condition and deserve to continue flying proudly over this great nation.
If your American flag is worn and ready for retirement, we invite you to bring it to our flag retirement drop box. While you’re here, you’re welcome to take a replacement flag—available on a first-come, first-served basis.
We have mostly 3’ × 5’ flags available, along with a few larger sizes.
Thank you for helping us honor the flag with the dignity and respect it deserves. 🇺🇸
