Instagram vs. Reality.

The first picture is what you see.

The second picture is what made the first one possible.

A tiny treat. Patience. Repetition. Hundreds of moments no one will ever post.

Social media is full of polished snapshots, but real life is built in the ordinary, behind-the-scenes moments. The conversations that don’t get shared. The tears. The practice. The showing up when no one is watching.

Whether it’s raising kids, building a marriage, growing a business, healing, or training a future service dog… the moments everyone celebrates are usually the result of a thousand small moments no one applauds.

What Does EM Counseling Stand For?

When we started EM Counseling, the “EM” was simple.

Erin Mrakovich.

Then my husband joined the practice, and suddenly it also became:

Erin & Elia Mrakovich.

But over the years, EM Counseling has come to mean something much bigger than our names.

It stands for every therapist who has chosen to be part of this team.

It stands for every client who has trusted us with their story.

It stands for every family, child, teen, couple, and adult who has walked through our doors looking for support, healing, or simply a place to breathe.

Because the truth is, EM Counseling isn’t built by one person- or even two.

It’s built by relationships.

By people showing up.

By conversations that matter.

By a team that genuinely cares.

So what does EM Counseling stand for?

It stands for belonging.

It stands for the belief that everyone matters.

You all worry a lot, skip naps, and underestimate the power of snacks. But you’re also brave, kind, and keep showing up even on hard days.

I’d call that a pretty good first week.

Meet Henry! 🐾

This month, you’ll be seeing him around EM Counseling. Henry is an ICAN dog in training, and Elia and Erin’s family are serving as his furlough family while he continues learning and practicing his skills in real-world environments.

You’ll likely spot him around the office as he works toward becoming a future service or facility dog. We’re excited to be part of his journey and excited for you to meet him! 💙 He is the sweetest boy!

Grief after su***de is different.

It is often quieter than people expect.
Less visible. More isolating.

Many teens are not going to come out and say how much they are struggling.
Instead, it shows up in withdrawal, irritability, or a sense of disconnection.

And a lot of them feel like they are the only one going through it.

Gentle Ground was created to change that.

This is a small, structured group for teens who have lost someone to su***de. It gives them a place to be around others who understand, without pressure to share more than they are ready for.

Not to fix everything in a week.
But to help them take a first step that is not alone.
