Another amazing IBP love note. 💜✨

Being invited into such a vulnerable and transformative season of life is a privilege we never take lightly! What makes this one extra special is that we had the honor of supporting this family through not one….but two births. 🥹 There is truly no greater compliment than a family inviting us back into such a sacred season.

We are SO grateful for every family who trusts us with their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey!

We’re still not over this moment! Thank you so much for all of the love we received last week when we posted the behind the scenes pictures. 🥹💜 Here’s the full clip!

In case you missed it, Amy and Jordan joined Fox59 a couple of weeks ago to discuss the growing accessibility of birth and postpartum doula support. We couldn’t be more proud of them and the way they continue to advocate for families. They did such an amazing job! ✨

Gender disappointment is one of those taboo topics that many parents experience…but very few people feel comfortable talking about.

If you’ve ever felt sadness, confusion, guilt, or disappointment after finding out your baby’s s*x, we want you to know something important:

Those feelings do NOT make you a bad parent!!!!

So many parents carry expectations, dreams, or emotions into pregnancy (for many different reasons!), and sometimes reality looks different than what they imagined. That can take time to process!

You are still allowed to love your baby deeply while also grieving the picture you had in your mind. Both things can exist at the same time.

We believe there should be more honest, judgment free conversations around experiences like this, because shame absolutely grows in silence.

Here are some intentional mindset tips if you are stuck in the gender disappointment phase:

đź’™Start thinking of your baby as an individual instead of a boy or a girl.
đź©·Begin to shift your thoughts to their personality and the traits you think they will have.
đź’™Allow the future experiences you are about to set out on with your child to flood your thoughts. Excitement will soon follow.
đź©·Pick out a name so they feel more like a real person rather than just a baby boy or a baby girl.
đź’™Have fun shopping for clothes and planning your registry.
đź©·Make the nursery more neutral, and then add to it once your baby is here.
đź’™Start a journal for yourself.
đź©·Write letters to your baby.

Regardless of the WHY behind your feelings…how you feel is how you feel. And you are still an amazing parent. Period.

We promise it won’t be long until you fall madly in love with your sweet babe…exactly as they are. 🥹

We’re here for you!

At IBP, our approach is about so much more than support…it’s about truly listening, building trust, and meeting families with compassion and care, every step of the way.

We believe every family deserves to feel heard, respected, informed, and deeply supported throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

And no two families are the same, which is why support should never be one-size-fits-all. Our goal is to walk alongside you in a way that feels personal and tailored to your unique journey. đź’ś

We can’t wait to meet you!

A few behind the scenes moments from Jordan & Amy’s appearance on Fox59! 💜🦚🥳✨🎥

They were invited to speak about something we’re incredibly passionate about and hopeful for: major health insurance companies beginning to cover birth and postpartum doula support as part of employee benefits.

I know I am speaking for all of the IBP doulas when I say this…we could not be more proud of them! They did absolutely amazing: so composed, knowledgeable, passionate, and able to articulate the value of doula support so beautifully.

IBP is what it is because of the heart, passion, and dedication they pour into this work every single day, and it’s such a privilege to be part of a team that advocates so deeply for families. 💜🥹

There’s something so sweet about watching newlyweds climb into their getaway car at the end of their wedding night. It’s a moment many people dream of experiencing one day, and for seasoned married couples, it often brings them right back to the excitement and emotion of being newly married themselves. 🥹

But while a wedding marks the beginning of a marriage, many couples are surprised by how little thought is sometimes given to the marriage that follows the wedding day itself. So much time, energy, attention, and preparation goes into one single day…without realizing the real journey begins afterward!

As birth doulas, we use this analogy all the time with expectant parents:

Birth is like the wedding.
Postpartum is like the marriage. đź’ś

And every single time we say this, you can almost see the lightbulb go off!

SO much focus naturally goes into the one BIRTH day: preparing for labor, thinking through preferences, and envisioning how you hope the experience will unfold. And while that preparation absolutely matters, planning for postpartum is just as important, because birth is one day.
Postpartum is the entire season that follows.

When preparing for a major life transition, whether it’s a wedding or welcoming a baby, most people tend to focus either on the big picture or the small details. A great doula does both.

Like a wedding coordinator, we support and guide you through your birth day, helping things feel as calm, informed, and supported as possible. But our role doesn’t stop once your baby arrives.

We help families prepare for postpartum, too.

The sleepless nights.
The emotional transitions.
The identity shifts.
The recovery.
The feeding journey.
The adjustment to a completely new rhythm of life.

We are here to walk alongside you through ALL of the transitions. 🌿

It’s true! We absolutely love snuggling and caring for sweet babies, but that’s not the ONLY reason we are there. We are there to support your entire family.

As postpartum doulas, we provide emotional, physical, and educational support after baby arrives. We help families feel nurtured, supported, and less alone during the massive transition into parenthood.

Our support will look different for every family because our care is tailored specifically to your needs, but our support often includes:

đź’śnewborn care
đź’śfeeding support (and we can get you connected with an IBCLC, if needed!)
đź’śemotional support
đź’śovernight care
đź’śhelping navigate sibling transitions
đź’śbirth processing
đź’śensuring parents get QUALITY rest
đź’ścreating space for families to feel truly cared for during such a vulnerable season of life

And honestly, sometimes even the smallest acts of support become the most meaningful: a big hug, a listening ear, uninterrupted hours of sleep, or a simple reminder you that you are doing amazing (because you are!).

Postpartum care matters deeply and parents deserve unwavering support. We can’t wait to walk alongside you. 🥹

Behind Indiana Birth & Postpartum is so much more than a business…it’s heart, purpose, friendship, passion, and a deep love for serving families through every stage of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. 💜

Amy and Jordan recently had updated branding photos taken, and while we’re SO excited to share alllllll of the magic captured by , we also wanted to share a little bit of the heart behind IBP.

I stole a few snippets from Amy and Jordan’s personal posts because their words perfectly capture what IBP is all about.

Amy:
“I love what I do. Sometimes it’s all-consuming, overwhelming, and exhausting. Most times it’s fulfilling, heartwarming, and deeply rewarding. Getting to do it all with is the cherry on top.

Walking alongside families in some of the most vulnerable, life-changing moments is something I never take for granted. This work is personal, meaningful, and such a huge part of who I am. I love my clients, and our incredible IBP team. I’m grateful for every family who trusts me to be part of their story. 🥹🫶🏼”

Jordan:
“I became a Doula 11 years ago and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t feel thankful for the path God led me down. The business partner that I couldn’t do life without . The families that open their story and homes and allow me and our doulas to be a part of. The mothers that turn into dear friends and allow me to love on their babies. Wouldn’t trade it for the world. ✨”

At the center of IBP is a friendship and partnership built on trust, shared passion, and a wholehearted commitment to supporting families with compassion and care…and they are absolutely incredible at it. 🥹

To every family who has trusted IBP to walk alongside them during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum… thank you, truly. It is such a privilege we never take for granted.

Over the holiday weekend, I (Kourtney, IBP’s content creator 👋🏼) found myself constantly up and down chasing my kids around, getting snacks, navigating a potty-training toddler, trying to have conversations with family and friends, making sure my kids were safe, and watching the Indy 500…all at the same time. 🤪

By the end of the weekend, I was completely spent, and I know so many of you can relate to that kind of mental and physical exhaustion. Especially during the summer time, when life gets a lot more fun and hectic.

But even on the days that feel chaotic, repetitive, overstimulating, and/or completely overwhelming…what you are doing matters SO deeply.

Your children may not remember every detail of these summers. They may not remember how many times you got up to refill snacks and drinks, stepped away from conversations to tend to them, or spent the entire day making sure they were safe, happy, and cared for…

But they will remember how loved they felt while growing up.
They will remember your gentle and calming presence.
They will remember all of the fun and magic you created.
They will remember that you were always there…no matter what. 🥺

You’re doing absolutely amazing. 💜

Something we wholeheartedly believe is that knowledge is POWER, especially in birth and postpartum. ✨

So many parents enter this season carrying excitement, fear, and uncertainty all at once. Those feelings are completely normal! But in the midst of those emotions, information can become grounding. It can turn the unknown into something that feels a little more steady and a little less overwhelming. Let us explain…

When parents understand what’s happening in their bodies, what their options are, and what true support looks like, something shifts within them. Fear doesn’t always disappear, but it softens for many. Confidence grows. Intuition gets louder and harder to ignore. Decisions feel less rushed and more rooted in clarity and confidence.

This is why education matters so deeply in birth work, and it’s why we educate our clients during pregnancy about the birth process AND what to expect during postpartum. Not to try to create a “perfect” experience (because perfection isn’t the goal), but to help families feel seen, prepared, and supported in whatever path their story takes.

We want to gently remind you…we don’t believe in one “right” way to birth or parent. We believe in informed choices, compassionate care, and holding space for every family’s unique experience. 💜

We’re here for you!
