Summer is here, and so are the ticks. ☀️🕷️

About 50% of people with Lyme disease never knew they were bitten.

If you’re hiking, camping, or spending time outdoors, make tick checks part of your routine. Here in the Midwest, tick-borne illnesses are more common than many people realize.

Enjoy the season. Just stay aware.

I hear this from women all the time:

“I’m exhausted.”
“I feel touched out.”
“I don’t feel like myself anymore.”

For many women, this happens during two major seasons of life: raising young children and navigating perimenopause or menopause.

Hormones, stress, sleep deprivation, and the demands of life all play a role.

You don’t have to simply accept feeling this way.

Can you relate? Tell me below. 👇

One of the biggest myths I hear is that painful s*x is just part of getting older.

It’s not.

Hormone changes, tissue changes, autoimmune conditions, and infections can all contribute to pain. Most are treatable once the root cause is identified.

Pain is information. Don’t ignore it.

Another year at IFM, and once again, it’s the people who make it special.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and connect with others who share a passion for helping patients find hope and healing.

Leaving inspired and thankful for this incredible community. 🤎

Trending in movies on Netflix right now… and my physician brain immediately went into analysis mode watching The Crash.

POTS is a very real condition, but medically, loss of consciousness causes loss of motor tone. Your body disengages. You do not continue pressing the accelerator into the floor.

Tragic story. But POTS is not the explanation.

People ask why we chose this path.

Truthfully, it feels like God chose it for us.

What started in the ER first, then a 400 sq. ft. office, became something deeply personal after our daughter Emma became sick with PANDAS. Walking through that season as parents changed everything.

We experienced firsthand what it feels like to search for answers, fight for healing, and support a child through complex illness. That journey shaped the way we care for families today.

Functional medicine became more than a profession. It became a calling.

As Dr. Scott says:

“My specialty found me.”

Two weeks in Italy.

Good food. Long walks. Shopping. Beach days. Slow mornings. Late dinners. And quality time together away from the noise of everyday life.

Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is step away from the schedule, be present with the people you love, and actually enjoy the life you’ve built.

A little recap from Italy with Dr. Ellen and Dr. Scott.

There’s a lot of noise around “functional medicine” right now.

And a lot of people doing it… incorrectly. This isn’t about being anti-medication. It’s not about being “all natural.”

And it’s definitely not about guessing. It’s about knowing when something is serious. Knowing when to intervene. And knowing how to actually get to the root of what’s going on.

That takes training.
That takes experience.
And it takes looking at the body as a whole.

Not just chasing symptoms.

What’s your go-to activity that instantly lowers your stress?!

Mine is puzzles—I’ve finished 9 and counting over the holidays so far. Giving your nervous system a break from a constant state of stress is good for your overall health. Highly recommend finding an activity that feels relaxing for you and taking time out of your day for yourself 🧩

Bonus points if there’s a cute dog nearby for an oxytocin boost 🐶✨
