Restore Your Core Physical Therapy

Restore Your Core Physical Therapy Dr. Miles also saw the benefit of pelvic floor physical therapy and requested that she work directly out of his gynecology office to better serve his patients.

Restore Your Core Physical Therapy is led by Dr. Amy, Dr. Erica, Dr. Melissa, Dr. Jordan, Dr. Julie, Dr. Ashley, Dr. Meredith, Dr. Hannah, Dr. Carli: Providing compassionate, whole-body care to help you feel stronger, move confidently, and live pain-free. Amy became fascinated with pelvic floor dysfunction after sitting through a forty-five minute lecture while in Physical Therapy school at Indian

a University. “I just remember so many of my classmates saying how they would never want to work as a pelvic therapist, but I remember feeling energized by that lecture. I knew that day I would seek out the opportunity to learn more about pelvic dysfunction.”
Once a more generalized therapist, Amy was presented with the opportunity to be trained in pelvic floor dysfunction in 2000. Amy became engrossed in the study of pelvic health and she quickly realized pelvic floor dysfunction is often a huge source of pain that is commonly under-recognized by the medical community. Her fascination with pelvic health drove her to establish and launch the highly successful Women’s Health program for Tx:Team Therapy which offered evaluation and treatment of the many conditions that impact women across their life span. Just five years after her successful launch, Dr. Scott Miles and Dr. Larry Davis approached Amy and requested that she join the medical team at the Center for Sexual Medicine. Amy has also mentored several other physical therapists in the area of pelvic health. Over the past 16 years, Amy has focused exclusively on pelvic, abdominal, hip, and low back dysfunction and has taken over 625 hours of continuing education in the area of men’s and women’s health. She is trained in and continues to study Barral Visceral Manipulation, Chikly Manual Lymph Drainage, John Barnes Myofascial Release, Upledger Craniosacral therapy orthopedic and manual therapy techniques, and pelvic physical therapy techniques. In 2015, she completed extensive training and education through the Integrative Pelvic Health Institute and earned her Women’s Health and Nutrition Coach Certification. Amy was invited to sit for and successfully passed the inaugural Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioners Examination developed by Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. She maintains her certification as a Pelvic Practitioner which distinguishes her as an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of pelvic dysfunction. Amy created Restore Your Core Physical Therapy (RYC) in January 2016 at the request of many of her patients. RYC provides patients the one-on-one care they deserve delivered by a single practitioner with extensive knowledge of pelvic floor and musculoskeletal issues. Amy strongly feels patients deserve a professional, safe, and nurturing environment that allows them time to tell their story, explain their concerns and fears, create attainable goals, and then allow them to improve their quality of life by working as a collaborative team. She is a respectful, open, and honest communicator which allows her to quickly and deeply connect with her patients. This deep connection allows patients to open up and discuss personal and uncomfortable topics from the very beginning. Amy consistently embraces a holistic approach to evaluating and treating pain and empowers each patient to contribute to their own healing journey.

Nobody talks about this. So we will.

Men have a pelvic floor too and when it’s not working right, it affects everything. Chronic pelvic pain, urinary urgency, leaking, hip and low back pain that won’t resolve, tightness that never fully goes away. These aren’t just things you have to push through. They’re signs your body is asking for help.

Most men we see have been dealing with these symptoms for months or even years before coming in. They were told everything looked normal. They figured it was just age. They kept managing it on their own.

But here’s the thing, pelvic floor dysfunction in men is real, it’s common, and it’s treatable. You don’t need surgery. You don’t need to just live with it. You need someone who knows how to actually find the root cause and fix it.

That’s what we do.

Share this with a man in your life who needs to see it.

Welcome Dr. Beth to the Restore Your Core PT Family! 🎉

Born and raised on the north side of Indy, Dr. Beth is excited to be back home building community and putting down roots after years of traveling nationally and internationally for her work in performing arts medicine

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Movement & Sport Science from Purdue University before completing her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at University of Evansville.

Growing up involved in soccer, swimming, dance, and running, movement has always been a huge part of her life. She loves helping patients reconnect with the activities that make them feel their best, whether that’s keeping up with workouts, chasing after kids, performing, or simply living without pain.

Before joining our team, Dr. Beth spent the first 5 years of her career treating performers in productions including Disney’s Aladdin, Cats, Hamilton, TINA: The Tina Turner Musical, and Sleep No More: Shanghai, working with dancers, singers, musicians, and crew members through everything from injury prevention to acute and chronic rehab.

She is certified in dry needling and also has training in cupping, IASTM, jaw, and vocal work. Most of all, she loves truly getting to know her patients, understanding their goals, and finding the best way to help them get back to doing what they love

Outside of the clinic, you can find her traveling, trying new bakeries, spending time outdoors, riding her bike, lifting, reading with her book club, and supporting local arts

Dr. Beth will be treating in Zionsville on Mondays and in Carmel Tuesday–Friday. We are SO excited to have her on our team! 🤍

Tuesday we talked about why activity causes pain. Today let’s talk about what to actually do about it.

A lot of people think orthopedic PT is only for people recovering from surgery or a major injury. It’s not. It’s for anyone whose body is getting in the way of doing what they love.

Back pain every time you golf. Knee pain that shows up on mile two of every run. Hip tightness that no amount of stretching touches. Shoulder that aches when you lift. If any of that sounds familiar, this is for you.

Your first visit at Restore Your Core PT starts with a real conversation. What’s going on, how long it’s been happening, what you want to get back to. Then we do a full movement assessment, looking at how your whole body works together, not just the spot that hurts.

You leave with answers. And an actual plan built around your body and your goals. Not a generic handout. Not “just rest it.” A real plan.

Summer is here. Don’t spend it working around pain.

If working out keeps leaving you wrecked the next day, this one’s for you.

A lot of people think pain during or after activity just means they’re out of shape or getting older. But that’s not usually what’s happening. When movement hurts, it’s almost always because your body is compensating for something a weakness, a restriction, a pattern that’s been building for a while. The activity isn’t the problem. The way your body is moving through it is.

The fix isn’t to stop moving. It’s to figure out why it’s happening and actually address it.

At Restore Your Core PT we look at the whole picture, how you move, where you’re compensating, what’s driving the pain and we build a plan to get you back to doing what you love without paying for it the next day.

Running. Golf. Hiking. Lifting. Keeping up with your kids this summer. You shouldn’t have to choose between staying active and staying out of pain.

Save this and share it with someone who needs to hear it.

“I wish I would have sooner.”

That line says everything. 8 months of searching for answers, doctor to doctor, and all it took was finding the right team.

This is exactly why we do what we do. When a patient walks in feeling lost in their own body and walks out with clarity, a plan, and people who genuinely care, that’s everything to us.

If something still feels off postpartum, please don’t wait. You deserve answers and you deserve care that actually gets to the root of what’s going on.

We are so proud of H.S. and grateful she trusted Amy and Melissa with her recovery. 💙

You have 60 seconds. That’s all this takes.

If you’re reading this while the baby is finally napping, the dishes are still in the sink, and you genuinely cannot remember the last time you took a full breath… this is for you.

When you’re overwhelmed, your whole body braces. Shoulders creep up. Jaw clenches. And your pelvic floor grips too. Most moms have no idea that chronic stress shows up there but it does, every single time.

Here’s your reset. Try it right now.

Breathe IN for 4 counts into your belly, not your chest.
Hold for 2.
Breathe OUT for 6, slow, all the way out.
Repeat 3 or 4 times.

That’s it. That’s the whole thing.

Every time you fully exhale, your pelvic floor releases. Your nervous system starts to shift. Your body remembers it’s allowed to let go.

You can’t pour from an empty cup and you can’t heal a body you never give permission to rest.

Save this for the next hard moment. And if your body needs more than a reset, we’re here. 💙
