It's official!

This certification represents more than another credential. It strengthens the work I already provide through recovery coaching and group facilitation by adding a formal peer-support framework grounded in ethics, healthy boundaries, self-advocacy, personal choice, and strengths-based recovery.

In my current group sessions, I help participants explore self-study, coping skills, emotional regulation, spirituality, and the 12 Steps as practical tools for creating lasting change. This certification will allow me to bring an even stronger peer-centered perspective to that work—one that honors lived experience while helping each person recognize their own wisdom, resilience, and capacity to build a meaningful life in recovery.

The heart of my work remains the same: meeting people where they are, encouraging honest self-exploration, and creating space for growth without judgment. This certification strengthens the foundation beneath that work and opens new possibilities for collaboration with treatment centers and behavioral health organizations.

I’m grateful to continue growing in a field that has profoundly shaped my own life. Recovery is about more than overcoming substance use—it is about creating a life that supports lasting well-being.

I've been looking in all the dark corners lately. Places that still hold pain. Why? For understanding, for healing, and for release.

This Mercury Retrograde has been showing me where to find the places that need clearing. When the student is ready the teacher appears.

In cleaning out an old cabinet, I found it. An old letter from years past, apologizing for breaking my heart. Telling me I deserved a man who could honor the boundaries I needed to feel safe, valued, and respected. Permission to let go to find him.

Life in recovery has been full of magical moments like this. Moments they call 'God smacks' . Moments reminding you where you've been and how far you've come. Celebratory Milestones of resiliency and healing.

Choosing a solo life vs settling for what's not aligned. Remaining teachable while I continue to heal. Feeling the lightness within after the release. 🕊

More will be revealed.
Let go & Let God.
And so it is.

Aho.

Dimensions of Recovery.

I adapted this from the 8 Dimensions of Health. Using my mandala logo, representing 8 points, all leading to the heart's center.

A place we should all be trying to live from. In the body not the mind.

Each session is 90 minutes long, we start with breathwork to settle in, Introductions to connect and celebrate milestones, lay the foundation for the group- a safe space to reflect, grow, and release.

I've witnessed breakthroughs, heartbreak, and denial all in the same room.

I've come to understand that the pain lingering inside unless released will continue to fester and grow and when the threshold heightens an addict is born.

Each topic has been an important part of my journey through recovery. They intertwine with each other and all affect how we love ourselves and others.

Meeting these sessions with transparency and empathy, both are needed to deliver a message of hope.

Another fulfilling week of sessions, I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be ✨️

Michelle

Through the lens.

Kali has taken to my shifting of energy at home. This used to be Mosley's place, but it looked much different. I miss him still, his comfort during our time together will never be matched. Kali is definitely supposed to be his successor.

She is keen eyed.
She is vigilant.
She is sweet and fierce.

She's been going to socialization play groups for about a month now. At first, she was submissive, she lacked confidence. This sets her up for being bullied by others. Fast forward to her last session, she has tremendously increased her confidence, playing with the big dogs without fear or hesitation.

This is what she's teaching me.

I don't know her past or why she was at the shelter. I do know that she was meant to be mine.

Oftentimes, life in recovery requires us to step into unfamiliar territory. It asks of us to look through a new lens while healing at the same time. This process builds our confidence finding healing in the discomfort. ✨️

Teachers come in all forms and I'm grateful for Kali's ability to show me where to lean in.

The rawness of recovery.

I think this is one of the most valuable pieces of being in recovery. Giving ourselves full permission to feel it all. No sugar coating life like all is well. Rather brutal honesty when we feel life's downward pull.

I was in an online meeting this week and a woman said to me 'I see you as this bad a$$ woman, doing it, making things happen, and getting them done.'

I laughed because what I feel like on the inside is quite different. Most days I feel like I'm living in a petri

Celebrating milestones in recovery!

30 days, 60 day, 90 days, 6 months, 9 months, 1 year, 18 months, 2 years, and every year after 💫

These are the milestones we celebrate. With that said there is a difference between clean time and recovery time. Something that took me a while to comprehend on my journey.

Clean time means we are free of using our drug of choice.

Recovery time means we are actively doing the work to recover from our addictiveness.

Recovery requires honesty, open mindedness, and willingness. Spiritual principles that we all should practice if we want healthy relationships, including the one with ourselves.

Humbled for the opportunity to celebrate with those doing rhe work 🙏

We are always exactly where we are meant to be ❤️

Namaste,

Michelle

Using this moment in time to remind myself: I can do hard things.

The paddling out to each wave takes devotion, open mindedness,.and willingness. All with no guarantees of how long each ride will be.

The journey isn't about the length of each ride. It's about understanding that there will be another opportunity as long as I don't give up.

Some rides are glorious and some you fall hard. They both leave imprints on the heart ❤️💔

In all my 'feels' this Retrograde and approaching full moon. Remembering both glorious moments and painful ones.

Time to paddle out again.💫

It took many falls to get this 10 second ride.

Waiting for the next wave.

When the student is ready, the teacher appears....

I'm sure many of you have heard this before. I've lost count of all the teachers in my life. They've come and gone, some still linger in and out of my life, a sign that those lessons are not completed yet.

Recovery has been a gift in many ways. It's also been emotionally intense at times. It's shown me where to lean in using spiritual principles to guide the process. Trusting that when discomfort arises, to lean in more, not run away or numb.

I've mentioned before my struggle with food. It became my coping skill for depression. Unable to regulate my nervous system off of the Yoga mat. I was anchoring myself with food,.a very temporary and dysfunctional satisfaction.

I didn't see the connection until speaking with the Ayurveda doctor from Vaidyagrama Ayurveda Village. The connection between my Restless Leg Syndrome, Bells Palsy (2021), and depression on/off the last 6 years. All related to my nervous system.

What I need is a nervous system reset. Ayurveda is the remedy.

What sets off my nervous system? Stress and loneliness. Since my divorce in 2020, I've been trying to regulate through food and now the very thing that I've abused is once again my biggest teacher.

So now is the time.

Healing the body, mind, and spirit connection though what's literally been left on my plate to move through.

I am very well supported with Sangha, women who are honest and transparent about the same lessons - I am not alone now on this journey with food ✨️🙏✨️

Sweet surrender.
Let go, let God.
