Range of motion you can’t control isn’t range of motion…it’s a threat. The nervous system will not let you turn into a position you can’t stabilize on the way out of it. So it locks you down, and you call that “tight.”
That’s why you can stretch into a deep hip turn on the floor and lose it the second you’re standing over a ball with a club moving 90 mph. On the floor there’s nothing to decelerate. In the swing there is.
Mobility opens the door. Control is what lets you walk through it at speed.
Get the second half wrong and you don’t just leave distance on the table. You hand the joint a range it has no plan for. That’s where the pain shows up.
Stretch less. Control more.
Movement first. Swing second. Results follow.
